Two in-demand young actors were honored at the recent Gintong Parangal 2022, held last Saturday, August 13 at the Okada Manila Grand Ballroom.
Teejay Marquez was presented the award for “Makabagong Aktor Sa Pelikula at Telebisyon,” in recognition of his exemplary acting in his recent works.
In more ways than one, Teejay could be largely credited for sparking the Boys’ Love (BL) trend, when his Ben X Jim series, as well as its subsequent sequel B X J Forever, became massive hits during the pandemic years.
During the same time, he essayed pivotal roles in the movies Anatomiya, After All and Huling Baklang Birhen Sa Balat-Lupa and GLU! But he garnered even more critical acclaim for his major role in the top-rating GMA-7 and Regal Studios collaboration project, Mano Po Legacy: Her Big Boss.
“It’s a great honor to have been chosen for this award,” Teejay exclaims. “Of course, it feels good to be finally recognized after years of hard work, and it feels even more rewarding to spark a trend.”
Not to be outdone, PBB alumna Devon Seron was named “Mahusay na Aktres Sa Kanyang Henerasyon.”
Stepping out of her comfort zone, Devon has lately been appearing in coming-of-age movies such as Walwal.
Now at her prime, the petite actress is more than ready to flaunt her spunk and grit in the upcoming zombie action flick, Z-Love.
Also in the works are two other movies, After All, directed by Adolf Alix Jr. and the upcoming horror flick, Ligalig, which stars National Artist Nora Aunor, Snooky Serna, Winwyn Marquez and Allen Dizon, among others, directed by Topel Lee.
“Gosh, it feels so surreal,” Devon exclaims. “It’s a great honor to be recognized for my acting talent. My sincerest thanks to the Gintong Parangal 2022 organizing committee for this citation. This inspires me to work even harder at my craft.”
“Every performance is just as good as the other actors and actresses I’m working with, that’s why I consider it a great honor to be acting with our legendary superstar, Ms. Nora Aunor, and other screen legends in an upcoming project! I just hope and pray that some of her iconic talent rubs off on me,” she teases.
Teejay and Devon are currently managed by Arnold Vegafria’s ALV Talent Circuit.
