To combat the various stigmas and oppression that Filipino women face on a regular basis this International Women’s Month, actress Angel Locsin has banded together with a diverse group of women that includes fellow actresses, musicians, showbiz personalities, internet personalities, content creators, and ordinary citizens in a new online campaign video.

Released on March 23, the video centers around the power of the Pink Lipstick. The Pink Lipstick is an essential item in a woman’s arsenal that allows them to make their voice louder and break through the different systems and criticisms working against them in society—such as harmful stereotypes, outdated gender expectations, perceived limitations, and more.

The Pink Lipstick symbolizes a movement that values the Filipino woman’s true worth and their collective strength, channeling it towards helping each other rise above the challenges that women continually face.

A big part of that movement to help women rise further is using that collective strength to vote for a female leader that will acknowledge, listen, and fight for them—a leader like Vice President Leni Robredo.

“Masasabi natin, loud and proud, na hindi ako babae lang,” the personalities say in the video. “Babae tayo, at babaeng pangulo ang iboboto ko—Leni Robredo, ang pangulong siguradong hindi trapo, hindi namimili, at hindi ka iiwanan. Susuungin ang bawat sulok, hindi napapagod tumulong, at sa bawat sakuna, nand’yan siya.”

(We can say, loud and proud, that we are not just women. We are women, and we will vote for a woman president—Leni Robredo, a president who’s not like the rest, who will never leave you behind. She will brave every difficulty, help tirelessly, and be there in times of need.)

This International Women’s Month, it’s time to experience and enjoy the freedom that comes with being a woman, starting by joining the movement, trusting in and wearing the Pink Lipstick, and voting for Leni Robredo in the coming election.
