Nathania S. Alexandra a.k.a Nathantania, a new singer-songwriter self-produced Indonesian artist released her debut single, “To Whom It May Concern” today. Previously released a song on January 2021 under the title of “The Plot” under Artception 2020 (an event under Universitas Indonesia’s Communication Studies’ Student Association/Himpunan Mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Indonesia) in their compilation EP “Malleable Reality”, Nathantania now continues her journey as an independent artist under her own wings.
“To Whom It May Concern” was written by Nathantania as a tribute to all the people who inspired her life that has passed away. The lyrics tell the story of dealing with grief and Nathantania’s regret of never getting to say thank you to those who had given a huge impact to her (I still can’t stand the thought of never being able to see your reaction when I genuinely say thank you for your kind heart). The straightforward storytelling also gives a sense of how much of a human, albeit inspirable, the people Nathantania talked about (Your life was full of second chances, and I thank you for taking it all). The simple tune that consists of sincere vocals, soulful piano playing, and subtle electric guitars builds up to a climaxed bridge where Nathantania’s vocals shout out loud about a promise to not let the legacy of all her inspirations die (The seeds will grow soon, the people will sow and your part is over–So let us take over).
The lyrics to this song were completed by mid 2021, but due to the heavy emotion she felt toward the song, Nathantania was only able to complete the whole composition and arrangement by the end of 2021. The verses were improvised and the whole recording for the vocals were done in one take. “I wanted to keep the emotions as fresh as possible,” Nathantania said. She admitted to not wanting to ruin the sincere verse by overdoing the composition for the melody. By December 2021, Nathantania was able to finish arranging, producing, recording, mixing, mastering, and even making the artwork for her own debut single with the help of Ivan Gojaya as a mentor and Ebenhaezer Qlyon on the digital percussion.

LYRICS
It wasn’t easy
I don’t know who to tell
This story to
I don’t want to show
These tears
I just want them to know
The person you were
I still can’t stand
The thought of
Never being able to see
Your reaction
When I genuinely say thank you
For your kind heart
Your life was full
Of second chances
And I thank you for taking it all
Yes, I mean it with all my heart
We had an amazing time
Although it felt so short lived
I know it was all part of a plan
We cannot escape the inevitable
I still can’t stand
The thought of
Never being able to see
Your reaction
Your life was full
Of second chances
And I thank you for taking it all
Yes, I mean it with all my heart
Your life was full
Of second chances
And I thank you for taking it all
Yes, I mean it with all my heart
The seeds will grow soon
The people will sow and
Your part is over
So let us take over
The seeds will grow soon
The people will sow and
Your part is over
So let us take over
