Zack Tabudlo’s newest single is a result of a collaboration that was in the making for some time now. Malaysian rapper and songwriter Yonnyboii joins him on the track “Take Me Back” which is now out on all music streaming platforms. This new single reflects Zack’s hit-making appeal that straddles national borders. He and Yonnyboii co-wrote the song, and the former produced the track.
Having worked with artists from the Philippines and other parts of the region, Zack knows how to play to his partner’s strengths. For “Take Me Back,” Zack says that he had a sound in mind, one which evoked the likes of Post Malone, Justin Bieber, Kid Laroi, and the Weeknd. The R&B-pop track, he adds, has old-school drums on it that accentuate both his vocal work and the way Yonnyboii drops bars.
The old-school feel fits nicely with the theme of “Take Me Back.” In it, the character recounts how past love haunts someone for many years on. The song’s compactness adds to its feel of nostalgia mixed with emotional urgency. When hearing the track, one can sense how easily the two work together, something that Zack can attest to.
After working on “Take Me Back” with Yonnyboii, Zack hopes to work on a hip-hop-flavored track in the future. For now, though, listeners can enjoy this treat from two musicians at the top of their game.
“Take Me Back,” feat. Yonnyboii, is a Republic Records Philippines release.
