Mindanao-raised hip-hop collective Morobeats is making its mark on the global music stage with its latest Spotify Single, “Kendeng”. This original track is the second of the three first-ever Filipino hip-hop Spotify Singles, part of KALYE X. Dedicated to fostering collaborations between artists, fans, and the community, Spotify’s KALYE X gives Pinoy hip-hop the spotlight it deserves.

Founded and led by DJ Medmessiah, Morobeats is proud to represent Zamboanga and the rest of the Mindanao region and has been a prominent fixture in the Pinoy hip-hop scene since 2014. The group boasts a roster of talented acts, including Miss A, Tha Wizard and Dizzy D of H20 Klann, Prophecee, Malik, Teemo, Naus, Fateeha, JMara, and more.

DJ Medmessiah expressed his enthusiasm for this first-of-its-kind milestone, saying, “We’re proud and excited that the rest of the world will hear ‘Kendeng.’ We’ve been dedicating our music and talent to showcase the rich Mindanaoan culture and share our style of hip-hop, and this collaboration with Spotify is providing us with that opportunity.”

“We are committed to amplifying the voices of these artists, celebrating their remarkable talent and the stories of Mindanao through hip-hop music. It is our goal for the performers to freely express themselves, engage with their fans in a fresh way, and connect with new listeners,” says Kossy Ng, Spotify Asia’s Head of Music.

Miss A emphasizes the importance of representation and the value of hard work in their journey, “As a female hip-hop artist from Mindanao, I am glad and honored that I get to do something that I deeply love. Hopefully, this undertaking inspires more people to continuously hone their talents, keep creating music, and make their voices heard.”

Morobeats’ song ‘Kendeng’ speaks exactly about that. It reflects the group’s passion for hip-hop and the members’ energy and unrelenting spirit in chasing their dreams, inspiring listeners to remain steadfast in their pursuits.

Davao joins the KALYE X street party!

Coming from the successful kick-off in Cebu, Spotify once again partnered with Wish 107.5 to bring the second leg of the Spotify KALYE X concert series to the Davao Global Township, in Davao City! Early on, attendees were treated to Morobeats’ Wishclusive performance of its newest Spotify Singles track ‘Kendeng,’ with a meet-and-greet for select fans following shortly.

Meanwhile, the concert featured an electrifying KALYE City Xypher with a 16-bar challenge hosted by Rekta sa Kalye. Davera and BigMac brought their A-game that led to a final showdown between the two rappers, with BigMac winning. There was also a live graffiti showcase by talented local street artist Smok from Wadab Locals.

Repping Davao-based hip-hop acts were Delinquent Society and Wolbsgvng as they ignited the crowd’s energy with their adrenaline-pumping performances that included ‘Yatkape,’ ‘Pipe A Bish,’ and ‘CtrlAltDelete.’ It was Delinquent Society’s first onstage appearance in three years, making the moment special and remarkable.

Main act Morobeats entertained the audience with more of their hits such as ‘Hunghang,’ ‘Mahal Kong Pilipinas, ’Kayumanggi,’ ‘Sino Ka Ba Talaga?,’ and ‘Atin Ang Gabi,’ and gave a dynamic live rendition of ‘Kendeng’ to punctuate the night.

Don’t forget to tune in to the Kalye Hip-Hop playlist for a continuous dose of exclusive content and the finest Filipino hip-hop beats. The excitement doesn’t stop as Spotify’s KALYE X concerts are set to wrap up in Manila on October 28th, featuring a highly anticipated three-way collaboration between Gloc 9, Hero, and Ramdiss.
