Earth Hour is an annual global event that encourages people to switch off non-essential lights for one hour in the evening as a symbol of their commitment to the planet. This year, Earth Hour will be observed on March 25, and Araneta City is gearing up to participate in this meaningful event.
The City of Firsts will take part once again in the annual Earth Hour lights off activity on March 25 from 8:30PM to 9:30PM. Key establishments and outdoor lights will turn dark for an hour in commemoration of this global cause. But apart from this Earth Hour tradition, Araneta City has prepared other activities to mark its commitment to save the planet.
The City of Firsts is also introducing a unique way of charging mobile devices with the Bicycle Phone Charging Station, which will be at the Ali Mall Activity Area from March 20 to 31. By pedaling any of the two stationary bikes there, shoppers can manually generate electricity to charge their mobile devices. The Bicycle Phone Charging Station is an excellent way to stay connected while also staying active and reducing one’s carbon footprint.
Pageant fans will get to see the hottest, most fashionable, and earth-friendly looks from the Binibining Pilipinas 2023 candidates as they go down the runway at the “Women Reinvent” sustainable fashion show at the Farmers Plaza Activity Area. Happening on March 24 at 1PM, the fashion show will showcase a wide range of sustainable fashion pieces, highlighting the importance of responsible consumption and production practices in the fashion industry. The sustainable fashion show will feature clothing made from eco-friendly materials and recycled fabrics.
Another fun Earth Hour 2023 activity to watch out for at Araneta City is the Proudly Original Products (POP) QC: Eco Bazaar from March 24 to 26 at the Ali Mall. The event will showcase entrepreneurs from Quezon City who are creating sustainable products and promoting environmentally-friendly practices. Visitors can browse through a wide range of sustainable products that can be the perfect addition to their home or a gift to friends and loved ones.
Lastly, Araneta City is having a Trade-a-Bag promo at on March 25 to 26. This activity encourages individuals to swap their plastic shopping or grocery bags for a cool Araneta City eco-bag. Just head to the Farmers Plaza Activity Area booth and exchange your plastics to eco-bags there.
“We have always proudly supported and actively taken part in Earth Hour. And this year, not only are we turning our lights off for this global event, we are also launching several activities that aim to promote environmentally responsible practices. We hope that you can come visit us to experience all of these events that we’ve prepared for you and your family as we mark Earth Hour,” Marjorie Go, AVP for Marketing of Araneta City, said.
