Celebrated Filipino chef Jessie Sincioco recently hosted a sold-out fundraising dinner for the Hapag Movement, a Globe-led program that aims to provide supplemental feeding and sustainable livelihood opportunities to those experiencing involuntary hunger.
The “Hapag ni LuzViMinda” event kicked off Chef Jessie’s Chefs Unite project, where she and her colleagues will come together and use their culinary skills to help vulnerable families.
Held at the elegant Events Hall of Chef Jessie’s Place in Makati, the event featured a Pinoy Fiesta-themed menu that showcased the diverse flavors of the Philippines.
The dinner was a resounding success, with all 100 plates, priced at P5,000 each, bought in no time by eager guests that included influencers and business personalities. Half of the total P500,000 in proceeds will go to the Hapag Movement.
“We are proud to be part of the Hapag Movement and its mission to provide vital support to families affected by hunger,” said Chef Jessie. “Through our Chefs Unite project, we aim to promote awareness and generate funds for this worthy cause while showcasing the wide range of distinct and varied culinary creations that Filipino cuisine has to offer.”
US-based Filipino chef Kay Carreon whipped up gustatory masterpieces alongside Chef Jessie and her team. The highly-acclaimed chef also donated 60 copies of her book, “Positives within The Possibilities,” which will be sold at P1,000 each. All the proceeds from the sale of these books will go to the Hapag Movement.
Meanwhile, Chef Jessie continues to extend her support through her newly launched Hapag Menu at the Chef Jessie Rockwell Club, located in Makati. The menu boasts an array of delectable Filipino and fusion dishes, with 50 percent of proceeds from meals sold donated to the Hapag Movement.
Chef Jessie’s MANNA Cuisine Corporation has been dedicated to the program ever since the Rotary Club of Makati Business District (RCMBD)s signed a four-year partnership with Globe to raise funds for Hapag. MANNA Cuisine Corporation is a member of the Rotary Club Makati District.
“Globe is honored that Chef Jessie has brought to life the Chefs Unite project. It is truly wonderful to see our country’s culinary experts coming together from all parts of the world to help our kababayans who continue to suffer from involuntary hunger,” said Globe Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer Yoly Crisanto.
An estimated 15 million Filipinos reported experiencing involuntary hunger from October to December 2022, according to results of a Social Weather Stations survey released in January this year.
By bringing together partners from the private sector, civil society, and government, the Hapag Movement aims to make a real difference in the lives of many Filipinos.
