In a mesmerizing blend of music and emotion, up-and-coming OPM artist Daniel Paringit makes a haunting comeback with the new single “Wag Kang Ganyan“—a song that delves into the enigmatic world of modern dating and relationships. With heartfelt lyrics and a captivating musical arrangement, Daniel will take fans and casual listeners through a web of emotions.
A Haunting Insight Into Modern-Day Dating
In a conversation with Daniel, he explained that “Wag Kang Ganyan” is a song about the “ghosting” phenomenon that’s very much apparent in today’s dating scene. Raw honesty is reflected in the music, thus capturing the essence of a ghosting experience.
When writing the song, Daniel said he focused on telling a story through the perspective of those who have fallen victim to ghosting. He tapped into the whirlwind of emotions, anxieties, and frustrations when you realized you had become a victim of ghosting and how it can ruin one’s peace.
“Nag-iiwan ng trauma or tamang aning yung ghosting para sa mga na-ghost. Doon ko linagay yung focus ng kanta na parang multo, mararamdaman mo rin minsan na ‘baka ghino-ghost ka na niya’ tapos natatakot ka na rin. Sa dulo, kapag iniwan ka na niya, or na-ghost ka na niya, wala na – ikaw na yung nasasaktan.”
A Melodic Embrace for the Ghosted
Through “Wag Kang Ganyan” and its authentic lyrical reflection, Daniel delivers a song that allows listeners to feel a ghosting encounter and the lingering effects it leaves behind. However, the song’s showcase of a vibey musical composition makes it more alluring.
“Solid ng kantang ‘to kasi from production ng music to visuals, solid ng buong team sa likod ne’to. Sa music side, si Cluster Ng, yung kabanda ko, nakuha niya at nagawa niya yung gusto kong vibe na kalabasan ng kantang ‘to. Masakit, pero vibey!” Daniel expressed.
He hopes this song offers a refuge for listeners who have experienced being ghosted by someone they liked. With so many stories about people getting ghosted, “Wag Kang Ganyan” will serve as a comforting song for them through its upbeat sound yet heartbreaking theme.
Crafting The Visual Concept
Daniel expressed that making the music video was one of his favorite parts in conceptualizing “Wag Kang Ganyan.” It was directed by Jonathan Tal Placido with Toothless.
Their collaboration with Daniel created a visual image to engage and entertain fans. Furthermore, Daniel also revealed that some of the ghost actors in the music video were fans.
“Ang ganda nung concept talaga, nothing too deep pero sobrang bumagay doon sa kanta.”
With the release of “Wag Kang Ganyan,” Daniel’s artistic journey perseveres. Fans of Daniel can expect more music and social media activity. His team is working to book more gigs, shows, and events with fans.
