Fresh from the success of its world premiere at Slamdance Film Festival early this year, multi-awarded director Quark Henares’ dark comedy thriller “Marupok AF (Where Is The Lie?)” takes on two more distinguished film festivals, Udine Far East Film Festival and the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival. Produced by ANIMA Studios, “Where is the Lie?” is a film that will leave audiences talking for weeks with its witty writing, sharp performances, and darkly comedic tone.

Udine Far East is an annual film festival that has become one of the most important platforms for promoting Asian films in Europe. This year’s festival held in Udine, Italy runs from April 21 to 29 offering a diverse selection of films from across the continent with a unique opportunity to experience the richness and diversity of Asian Cinema.

Happening from May 4 to 13, the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival is an annual celebration of the best and brightest in Asian Pacific cinema. With over 5,000 films, videos, and digital media works presented by Asian and Pacific Islander artists, this festival continues to be the largest of its kind in Southern California.

“Where is the Lie?” stars actress EJ Jallorina who plays Janzen, a lovelorn woman who believes she has found her perfect match in the charming and handsome Theo. However, things take a dramatic turn when Theo ghosts her on the day of their meet-up, leaving Janzen to unravel the complex web of lies, deceit, and catfishing that has been spun around her. The movie also stars Filipino actor Royce Cabrera as the ideal and seemingly perfect Theo, and Filipino singer-actress Maris Racal as Beanie, the sociopath whose character was inspired by the mastermind behind a real viral story that became a national obsession in the Philippines in 2020.

With a gripping storyline that keeps you hooked until the very end, “Where is the Lie?” is a film that will make you laugh, cry, and question everything you thought you knew about love.
