Leading integrated telco network PLDT Inc. (PLDT) and its wireless arm Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has expanded the education strategies of CARD-MRI Development Institute, Inc. (CMDI) in Bay, Laguna, and Tagum, Davao del Norte and Sigay National High School in Ilocos Sur by onboarding teachers into the Central Visayan Institute Foundation Dynamic Learning Program (CVIF DLP).
“The CVIF Dynamic Learning Program is a crisis-resilient teaching pedagogy that can augment efforts by the school to ensure that no learner is left behind. With COVID-19 and the summer heat threatening the health of students, CVIF DLP can be a viable option to help them continue learning in their homes,” said Stephanie Orlino, AVP and Head of Stakeholder Management at PLDT and Smart.
More than 60 educators from the two institutions’ high school and college departments underwent the CVIF DLP orientation led by program ambassadors Desi Dario Magnaye, Davao Christian High School Principal, and Edward Ryan Gulam, DepEd Sarangani Division Learning Resource Management System Coordinator.
Developed by Ramon Magsaysay awardees Dr. Christopher Bernido and the late Dr. Maria Victoria Bernido, the CVIF DLP encourages independent learning among students. This is made possible by the CVIF DLP Learning Activity Sheets (CVIF DLP LAS) that help improve the academic performance of students even with little to no teacher or parent intervention.
“Through the CVIF-DLP we will be able to harness the full potential of our students, enabling them to become independent learners. This new paradigm will not only allow them to achieve academic performance but will equip them for the bright future ahead,” said Dr. Flordeliza Sarmiento, CMDI President.
“We have heard of the success of other schools in implementing the CVIF-DLP. The teaching method can help us improve learning outcomes of our students by simplifying lessons into bite-sized information that they can easily understand,” said Liana Leah B. Cam-Ani, Head Teacher 1 at Sigay National High School.
Smart and PLDT-Smart Foundation have supported the CVIF-DLP for over a decade. The program highlights the use of technology to promote inclusive quality education that will help build a “MATATAG” nation. PLDT and Smart create and support various educational initiatives in line with their commitment to help the nation achieve the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals #4: Quality Education.
