As the summer heat continues to rage on, Tanduay Calendar Girl Kylie Verzosa invites you to cool down with the brand’s specially prepared cocktails for the season.
“What I love most about these cocktails is that they highlight the versatility of Tanduay rums and the tropical fruits that are abundant in our country. It’s giving you the differ-ent flavors of the Philippines’ islands,” said the Baguio-born beauty queen, model, and actress.
Kylie pointed out that one doesn’t have to be a professional bartender to create the drinks.
“I’ve tried making them, and they are very easy to create, so you can enjoy them any time you feel like chilling out by yourself or with friends,” she said
Sun-kissed Mango
The Philippine mango is sweet and succulent and is one of the crops that the country is known for. Mix it with the subtle sweet taste of the Tanduay White Rum along with other tropical fruit flavors and you have the perfect summer cocktail.
“Enjoy this cocktail by the beach or the poolside. If you don’t have the time for a vaca-tion, you can bring the vacation vibe to your home with this cocktail. We have different mango varieties here in the Philippines, so take your pick from the ones you love most,” Kylie recommended.
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz Tanduay White Rum
- 1 Whole Ripe Mango (cubed)
- 2 oz Lime Juice
- 0.5 oz Triple Sec
- 1 pc Banana
- 1 Scoop Vanilla Ice Cream
- Garnish: Mint Leaves
Procedure
Blend all ingredients with ice. Pour in a lowball glass and enjoy!
Golden Pearl
The Golden Pearl is another great option for a mango-flavored cocktail. This time, it is combined with the Tanduay 5 Years and syrups.
Ingredients
- 1 oz Tanduay 5 Years
- 0.5 oz Lime Juice
- 0.7 oz Agave Syrup
- 0.3 oz Simple Syrup
- 1 Cup Ice
- 1/2 Slice Ripe Mango
- Garnish: Dried Mango and Lime Wheel
Procedure
Blend all ingredients together. Pour into hurricane glass. Garnish with dried mango and lime wheel.
Tropical Queen
The pineapple is another tropical fruit favorite with its sweet and juicy flavor. For this cocktail, it is mixed with Tanduay 5 Years.
“The Tropical Queen’s ingredients are not hard to find. Pineapples and the Tanduay 5 Years are available in many store and supermarkets all over the country. Include them in your grocery runs, and create these cocktails for celebrations with friends,” Kylie said.

- 0.7 oz Campari
- 1 oz Pineapple Juice
- 0.5 oz Passion Fruit Syrup
- Garnish: Pineapple Wedge, Pineapple Leaves, Tropical Flower
Procedure
Shake all ingredients with ice. Pour into highball glass.
Dragon’s Kiss
The unique flavor of the dragon fruit highlights the creamy rich taste of the Boracay Cappuccino Rum in this summer cocktail. “This cocktail is a delight to behold with its pink color and a pleasure to drink,” Kylie said.
- 1 oz Boracay Cappuccino Rum
- 0.7 oz Lime Juice
- 0.7 oz Dragon Fruit Juice
- 0.7 oz Creme de Banana
- 0.3 oz Simple Syrup
- 5 g Dragon Fruit Slices
- Garnish: Tropical Flower
Procedure
Blend all ingredients the pour in a lowball glass.
Beach Blonde
“Now this is for all the green tea lovers out there. Yes, you can incorporate its flavor with Tanduay Dark Rum, and the result is amazing,” Kylie said.
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz Tanduay Dark Rum
- 1 oz Green Tea
- 0.5 oz Lime Juice
- 1 oz Passion Fruit Juice
- 0.2 oz Oleo Saccharum
- Garnish: Dehydrated Lime and Chia Seeds
Procedure
Rim a rock glass with chia seeds. In a cocktail shaker, place all ingredients with ice.
Shake briskly. Strain into the rimmed glass with fresh ice. Garnish with dehydrated lime.
