Being a country of world champions, it’s an understatement to say that MPL Philippines is wealthy in top and world-class Mobile Legends talents.
It’s abundant and overflowing – and the two consecutive gold medals in the Southeast Asian Games, back-to-back titles in the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup, and the two M-Series World Championships in the last two years are all prime demonstrations of that firepower.
This year is no different with RSG Philippines and ECHO all flying the country’s flag high and proud in the MSC 2022 and in the M4 World Championship respectively. Even previous defending champions Omega Esports and Blacklist International also made sure to put themselves in the position to retain their titles.
And it was all about the players who spent significant time honing, training, and developing their crafts and being the best in the world in all of what they do inside the Land of Dawn. Thus, the MPL Philippines Press Corps along with SMART picked the best players in every role to compose the very first All-MPL PH team.
Leading the way in the mythical five are the M4 World titlist trio Karl “Karltzy” Nepomuceno, Alston “Sanji” Pabico, and Benedict “BennyQT” Gonzales.
Once hailed as the best in the world in M2, Karltzy proved there’s so much more in him outside of his usual dazzling display of superb mechanics with his signature assassin picks. This year, he displayed the flexibility of a true jungler as he thrived on the utility jungle picks with his signature Barats and Fredrinn to become this year’s best jungler.
BennyQT, on the other hand, initially wanted a title to convince himself that he is indeed the best gold laner in the world. And he made sure to claim that title in a convincing fashion as he was also hailed as the M4 Grand Finals MVP, making him the MPL PH’s best gold laner a no brainer choice.
Capping off a stellar first year that also saw Sanji bag the Rookie of the Year plum is the All-MPL PH team citation as the best midlaner. The ECHO newcomer held his own and rose to the top against some of the best midlaners in the world.
Joining the trio are Blacklist International’s Edward “EDWARD” Dapadap and RSG PH’s Dylan “Light” Catipon.
The Agent Zero came out on top of a tight competition in the offlane to become this year’s best EXP laner. Edward continued to become a pivotal part of the Blacklist’s winning code as he helped the team to achieve a historic return trip to the M-series Grand Finals stage.
The same could be said for Light who shone brightest among a strong field of roamers in the league. The leadership, the game sense and the excellent setups on his tank picks like Khufra and signature Chou not only enabled RSG to bag the Season 9 and MSC titles but also allowed him to barge into the All-MPL PH team as this year’s best roamer.
All five of them will share the spotlight in the inaugural PL Philippine Press Corps Awards Night, powered by SMART and also sponsored by Razor Gold and Evident Integrated Marketing and PR at the Amelie Hotel although only one of them could become the SMART Player of the Year to be announced on the same day of the event on March 8.
