Fresh off the heels of revealing two brand new singles after a three-year period of hibernation, Malaysian singer-songwriter Lunadira doesn’t seem to be relenting any time soon in the imminent build-up towards her upcoming debut album. If the first two singles bore any signs of proof, her newest offering cements the resounding sentiment that Lunadira is back – so get ready to listen. Lunadira’s new single is the title track of said debut album, entitled “i’ll be alright, right?“.
The single is a spunky, UK Garage track that opens listeners up to an unchartered facet of the songstress’s sonic arsenal – displaying a mature evolution whilst simultaneously rooting further into her familiar DNA of poetic lyricism that is contemplative and unabashedly self-critical, delivered via sultry melodies and a tender vulnerability that’s all her own.
“The main thing I wanted to experiment with [on this album] was how my current writing would live and breathe in sound, trying to challenge myself to take my grip off of what I thought people would expect of me,” Lunadira shares.
“i’ll be alright, right?” is a brazenly fun anthem dedicated to the plaguing anxiety, and mundanity, of navigating your 20s (sometimes failing, but always having to pick yourself back up). It’s through Lunadira’s introspection that we see the parts of ourselves that also struggle; just like her, we want to know whether we’ll be alright. The track follows a double-single release earlier this month
Tastemakers around the world have taken notice of the rising artist as she regaled in purple and represented Malaysia on the COLORS stage with “GO SLOW”, and performed at SXSW in Austin, Texas on the Jaded & Balming Tiger stage. Lunadira also recently performed at Good Vibes Festival in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, sharing the stage with global artists like Sabrina Carpenter, NxWorries, and Daniel Caesar. She will be performing at this year’s SXSW Sydney in October 2023.
