No bad deed goes unpunished in Marvel Studios’ “Echo”, launching exclusively on Disney+ on January 10, 2024. The series stars Alaqua Cox as the titular Maya “Echo” Lopez, a deaf Native American hailing from the Choctaw tribe who was once a member of “The Kingpin” Wilson Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) criminal empire.

Despite her inability to hear, Lopez developed photographic reflexes, allowing her to mimic attacks and moves while fighting. She combines that extraordinary ability with her martial arts and firearms training to become a formidable force capable of deadly combat. As she faces her family and turbulent past, Lopez has to put her own legacy on the line in a violent struggle for control.

In honor of Choctaw Day, a special screening of the first two episodes of Marvel Studios’ “Echo” was recently held for the indigenous community, honoring and preserving the Choctaw people’s journey, culture, and history as the US also kicked off Native American Month.

“Echo” also stars Chaske Spencer, Graham Greene, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs , Zahn McClarnon, Cody Lightning and Vincent D’Onofrio. The series is directed by Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie. Executive producers are Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Victoria Alonso, Richie Palmer, Jason Gavin, Marion Dayre and Sydney Freeland. Co-executive producers are Jennifer L. Booth and Amy Rardin.

“Echo” is the first series under Marvel Spotlight, which features new and grounded character-driven stories from different parts of the MCU. Stories like “Echo” focus on street-level stakes outside the larger MCU continuity, which also allows viewers to jump into Maya Lopez’s story without needing to watch previous Marvel films and series.

Don’t miss “Echo” when all five episodes drop on January 10, which also marks the first time a Marvel Studios series will have all episodes available for streaming at once.
