Name in wood, glass a passion for hubby and wife

Reading anyone’s name embossed on wood, metal, marble or glass is something unique especially if the design is awesome.

Every time you visit a doctor, dentist, or lawyer you will see their names etched in wood or marble but have you asked yourself how these marvelous work of art is created.

Traditionally, this wood, marble, or metalwork is done manually.

Words such as “welcome,” “beware of dogs,” or sometimes the iconic Spanish “mi casa es su mi casa” (welcome to my house) etched in various materials are now centuries-old but today there is an entity that creates these using the most advanced technologies.

For Handogph, creating any word etched in almost any material is no big deal. Since venturing in the Philippine market 3 years ago, the hobby is now a worthwhile activity creating a name throughout the country.

“Names of those into online selling business are the most common order,” Char Marfori, founder of the entity, explains. Like many businesses, Handogph gets much of the order from its FB page (Handogph).

She said for as low as P120 plus shipping fee anyone can own a creation by the entity. Any customer can request any word or materials and creation time doesn’t exceed 2 weeks.

The entity’s stuff size ranges from 3 inches to 4 feet, which cost P3,800, said the founder.

The uniqueness of the firm’s products is now turning it a household name in the business. Name any occasion–birthday, christening, wedding anniversary–and Handogph’s creations are among the staples.

The entity accepts orders from anywhere in the world. The founder said there are orders from far-flung portions that they do and shouldering the shipping cost is no problem to clients.

“As long as they will pay the shipping fee no problem,” she said.

The road to creativity of the wife and husband tandem of Char and Warren started when they were still sweethearts in Michigan, USA more than a decade ago.

According to the wife, Warren, the chief creator, designer and maker, gave his father-in-law a glass-etched design measuring about 2 feet.

They kept and cherish the design and eventually served as the flashpoint to convert the beautifully-designed creation into a passion anyone can own for a minimal amount.

Fast forward to 3 years ago, the couple even expanded the business into modular cabinets, walking closets and almost any home component using auto cad. “Everything is done by machine from design to manufacturing,” says Warren.

The husband and wife said in their activity customers are the ultimate boss since they can do exactly what client would tell them so.

The preference of the client, specifically design and material where it would be sketched, is the main consideration for the manufacturing period and price tag.

The longest waiting period is 2 weeks if the design is complex and shortest is 3 days when simple and material is readily available.

With this mantra, one would say imagination is the limit when commissioning the works of this noble entity.
