The local government of Tagbilaran City in Bohol has received a #LigtasKit, an all-in-one emergency communication package powered by the country’s largest integrated telco network, PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications, Inc.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to helping build more disaster-resilient communities through the services we offer, as well as other inclusive mobile technologies stored in the PLDT-Smart Ligtas Kit. Tagbilaran City is one of our valued partners and we want to assure them that we are with them in their goal to protect their constituents from various adversities,” said Marylou Gocotano, PLDT and Smart Stakeholder Management Visayas Head.
Tagbilaran City is the first LGU on the island of Bohol to receive a PLDT-Smart Ligtas Kit which is expected to augment the city’s disaster preparedness and response efforts, especially during trying times of calamity.
The #LigtasKit is enclosed in a protective case and includes a portable generator, solar panel, satellite phone, smartphone, crank radio, pocket WiFi, flashlights, and whistles.
“The solid partnership that the local government of Tagbilaran City has harnessed with PLDT and Smart throughout the years has been a great blessing to our constituents. We are deeply grateful to be among the recipients of this Ligtas Kit because this will supplement our disaster preparedness and initiatives,” said Hon. Mayor Jane Yap of Tagbilaran City.
Apart from the package, the beneficiaries will also participate in a number of emergency communication learning sessions to be conducted by PLDT and Smart, in partnership with the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation, which will serve as refresher courses and capacity-building activities that will reinforce the LGU’s skills in disaster readiness.
The Ligtas Kit and other initiatives to promote a culture of preparedness nationwide are fundamental to PLDT and Smart’s broader commitment to help make a #SafeAndSmart Philippines through the continuous availability of communication services, mobile solutions, and activities to help communities mitigate disaster risks, aligned with the UNSDG #11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
