Prime Video announced today that Amazon Original comedy series Comedy Island Philippines will be available on Prime Video in the Philippines and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide starting August 31. A hybrid between scripted and unscripted, the six-part series is unique and unpredictable and has been produced by Amazon Studio in collaboration with BASE Entertainment Asia.

Comedy Island Philippines features seven comedians, actors, and social media celebrities—Carlo Aquino, Rufa Mae Quinto, Andrea Brillantes, Jerald Napoles, Cai Cortez, Awra Briguela, Justine Luzares, and Drew Arellano—who embark on a hilarious adventure when they are washed upon the shore of the mysterious Tawa-Tawa Island, which resurfaces after 100 years to commence the fictional “Centennial Games.” They soon find themselves unwitting competitors in these games and must improvise to survive and escape the island. Pitted against each other in unscripted improvisational scenarios, the celebrities pull out all stops to bring laughter and entertainment to the island’s citizens, in order to win the most votes and a chance to go back home.

“Comedy Island Philippines sets the tone and standard of the authentic Filipino stories and genres we want to share with our audiences at home and abroad, and our commitment to the local TV and film industry,” said Quark Henares, head of Originals, Philippines at Prime Video. “Comedy Island is an ambitious format, a hybrid between reality, comedy, and adventure, shot on an island with massive sets, which features both the best comedic talent from the two major networks in the Philippines and the new emerging voices including the up-and-coming social media superstars. We can’t wait to entertain our Pinoy audiences with this show.”

The series is produced by Amazon Studios in collaboration with BASE Entertainment Asia and will be available on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide. The six-part series will launch with three episodes streaming back-to-back each week over a two-week period, from August 31-September 7.

Comedy Island Philippines joins hundreds of other shows and films available on the Prime Video catalog, such as Fit Check: Confessions of an Ukay Queen, Cattleya Killer, Ten Little Mistresses, Walang KaParis, and Deleter, Korean titles such as Heartbeat, Tale of The Nine Tailed 1938, and Jinny’s Kitchen, anime hits such as Demon Slayer, on top of award-winning and critically acclaimed Amazon Originals like Citadel, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, The Boys, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, and Emmy and Golden Globe winners Fleabag and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Prime Video members are able to watch films and shows anywhere and anytime on hundreds of compatible devices. In the Prime Video app, members can also download episodes on their mobile devices and tablets and watch anywhere offline at no additional cost. Prime Video is available in the Philippines for just PHP149 per month.
