In celebration of National Women’s Month this March, Shopee held its first-ever Shopee EntrePinay: Women Entrepreneurs Summit to empower Filipina entrepreneurs. This is with the support of guest speakers from the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI), the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), and the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).
Crafted to equip attendees with knowledge on navigating leadership in the e-commerce space and developing their digitization skills, keynote speakers for the first EntrePinay: Women Entrepreneurs Summit include DTI Undersecretary, Consumer Protection Group Atty. Ruth B. Castelo, DTI Director of the Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion Marievic M. Bonoan, BSP Managing Director and Officer-in-Charge of Payments and Currency Development Subsector Bella Santos, PCW Deputy Executive Director for Operations Maria Kristine Josefina G. Balmes, and two inspiring Shopee sellers who were able to grow their businesses on the platform.

Throughout the summit, attendees were able to learn about empowering women through leadership, financial inclusion, and e-commerce. Deputy Executive Director Maria Kristine Josefina Balmes gave an overview on how National Women’s Month is celebrated in the Philippines, while Usec. Atty. Ruth B. Castelo shared her experience as a female leader in the government sector. Managing Director Bella S. Santos spoke about the importance of empowering Filipinas through Financial Inclusion, while Director Marievic M. Bonoan also shared her insights on the challenges and opportunities faced by the MSMEs in growing their businesses and how technology can help women entrepreneurs build competitive businesses.
