SM Cherry Shaw recently launched the “Kick It, Before It Kicks You” program dedicated to introducing the youth to sports, such as football at the 3rd level at Cherry Turf PH.
A joint project of SM Cherry Shaw, SM Cares, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Mandaluyong City Police Station, the program aims to promote the government’s campaign “ Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan” (BIDA).
The program was led by true-blooded Madaleño, DILG Sec. Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr., who was later represented by Asst. Regional Director for DILG NCR Atty. Ana Lyn Baltazar-Cortez. “Promoting a healthy lifestyle among students requires physical education within their core. This initiative is among the many ways we can help the youth engage in physical activities like the sport football. It is also another step forward in saving our youth, especially those in high school levels, who are most vulnerable to meeting unscrupulous members of the society involved in using and selling illegal drugs,” said Atty. Baltazar-Cortez.
The activity was participated in by 100 high school students from Mataas na Paaralang Neptali A. Gonzales High School in Brgy. Mauway, Mandaluyong City. Hundreds of security personnel deployed in SM Cherry Shaw, SM Center Pasig, SM Megamall and The Podium also took part and showed support for the program.
