Teleperformance (TP) Philippines is again at the forefront of empowering communities as part of Gawad Kalinga’s Bayani Challenge (Heroes Challenge), a multisectoral initiative that aims to combat poverty across the country.
A total of 25 volunteers from different Teleperformance sites in the Philippines participated in this year’s Gawad Kalinga (GK) Bayani Challenge in San Lorenzo Ruiz, a remote agricultural municipality in the Southern Luzon province of Camarines Norte. 2023 marks TP’s seventh consecutive year of joining the humanitarian cause, demonstrating the company’s unwavering commitment to be a force for good for people, communities, and the environment despite the lingering COVID-19 pandemic.
Volunteers participated in different activities to enhance the quality of life, promote sustainability, and foster a sense of unity among community members.
Participating TP employees and other volunteers planted a 10-hectare agricultural land to kickstart a social enterprise similar to the GK Enchanted Farm in Angat, Bulacan, Central Luzon. This future agri-business is expected to generate sustainable livelihoods for members of the San Lorenzo Ruiz community.
TP volunteers also helped in refurbishing houses in the GK Friendship Village, established in 2013 to provide more secure residences for families. They further participated in renovating a nearby school building, engaged in farmland clean-up, and orchestrated Paraisong Pambata (Children’s Paradise), a community activity to foster camaraderie among the young.
Teleperformance Philippines Chief People Officer Jeffrey Johnson commended the volunteers for their hard work and dedication and thanked Gawad Kalinga for the annual opportunity to help people and build stronger communities, especially in the countryside.
“The collective efforts of our Teleperformance family have always been the cornerstone of our business. Through the support and dedication of our volunteers and partners like GK, we continue to deliver positive impact in different communities. Across the years, we have learned that working together with communities from the ground-up is key to make meaningful, sustainable, and lasting impact. As we move forward, we encourage everyone to continue embracing this spirit of Bayanihan towards a brighter future for young Filipinos.”
TP remains resolute in its commitment to make a positive impact for people, communities and the environment. By actively participating in events such as the GK Bayani Challenge, TP continuously empowers communities and fosters meaningful change.
Gawad Kalinga is a long-standing partner of TP through its corporate social responsibility arm, Citizen of the World (COTW) foundation, a global initiative that aims to help vulnerable and marginalized people around the world and in local communities. TP has partnered with Gawad Kalinga for various humanitarian initiatives such as the GK Village in Tanay, Rizal Province, which provided new homes to people displaced by super typhoon Ondoy in 2009.
