Shane Bernabe, affectionately known in the Voice Kids as the Kiddie Pop Rockstar of Laguna, was born to become a champion. She first started singing at just 3 years old, coached by her loving lola and tita. Once in school, she later joined singing competitions and began writing songs. This fueled her passion for music, and she continues to strive to become a performer.
With singing contests, voice lessons, and now a champion title under her belt, Shane wishes to focus on the pop-rock genre. She’s also well-versed in musical instruments, particularly the guitar and ukulele. For now, she pushes on to continue singing as a form of self-expression.
THE VOICE KIDS SEASON 5 GRAND CHAMP SHANE BERNABE JOINS UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP
Hailed as the “Kiddie Pop Rockstar of Laguna,” Shane Bernabe officially signs with Universal Music Group (UMG) to jumpstart her career in the OPM scene. From thousands of aspirants, the young singer stood out from the rest of the contestants and rose to the top under Coach Bamboo.
“I feel thankful and grateful because before I only dreamed of joining a big singing competition, and now it’s here, I’ve achieved one of my dreams.”
With her undeniable stage presence and equally powerful singing voice, Shane is full of hope and determination to shine beyond The Voice stage.
Joining Universal Music Group
Shane enters the royalty of the OPM industry with UMG, which includes big names like Yeng Constantino, Moira Dela Torre, Zack Tabudlo, and fellow The Voice Kids alumni, juan karlos.
When asked about this big career move with UMG, Shane shares: “This is a dream turned into reality. Having this kind of family, the UMG, will guide and help me grow more in singing.”
Shane also recognizes that despite winning, there’s still so much to learn and experience. For now, she wants to take it one step at a time. “[With UMG], I hopefully want to have more song covers, to sing along with other artists, and to write songs—as I learn on how to navigate the industry.”
On Reaching for the Stars
Music means a lot to Shane, and at such a tender age, she recognizes how powerful it can be—especially when you’re the one performing the song in front of a crowd.
“Music for me is a form of art that lets you express yourself. It also helps me to focus more while studying. Creating music is like letting the listeners feel not just the song itself but the meaning of each.”
Remaining Grateful
Winning a grand competition is indeed worth celebrating. But a huge part of Shane’s journey now means looking back to see ahead. And that means celebrating and creating music in her own terms, and how easily it has blended into her life.
“I am delighted about my craft. I found I can incorporate twists while singing, as a way of expressing myself. One of the achievements I want to highlight is that even though I found myself busy with what I call a big blessing—singing—I was able to balance it with my academics. I ended the school year with honors.”
The OPM industry’s future is bright, especially with fresh and promising talents like Shane Bernabe. And with fresh eyes and a high-powered voice, Shane’s on her way to contributing to the country’s vibrant pop-rock scene.
