Following Zack’s heartbreak anthem, “Diba,” the singer-songwriter drops “Gusto,” a special collaboration with Al James. The song follows the experience of liking someone for a very long time, and finally mustering the courage to tell them how you feel.
And when asked about the single’s origins, Zack just proves how music comes naturally to him:
“Gusto came out of nowhere, just chilling, and had my guitar with me. everything started with the riff of the intro, and then it all just went along. This track is one of those songs I finished quickly, overflowing lyrics, and [I] finished in 2 to 3 hours.”
The single leans towards the RnB Pop/Hiphop style, described to have a “very chill beat.” All in all, Zack just wants listeners to vibe with it whenever they hear it.
But what makes the single truly special is that “Gusto” came to life with Al James, a collaboration that had carried them through the process—which has been smooth sailing.
“Working with Al James was really chill and quick! It was really fun just exchanging ideas for his part online. He was really easy to work with and I just love how smart he is when it comes to ideas and how he executes songs effortlessly.”
From the get-go, Zack already knew he wanted to work with Al James. From the lyrical choice down to the instrumental experimentation, both artists knew exactly how to blend their styles together.
“It all started with my vision towards the song after I wrote the whole verse up to the bridge part and knew I had to put a few bars in the after. Al James was the first person that came into mind and really just messaged him that moment. We’ve kind of known each other because of festivals we’ve been to. He saw the message in just a few minutes and then everything just went smoothly.”
“Gusto” is just one of the many projects Zack’s currently working on. While he’s no stranger to trends and breaking records, the young artist remains grounded—especially regarding new releases. To him, writing a song and collaborating with someone so talented keeps his music alive for people to vibe with.
“It always feels amazing to write something and know someone is perfect for it as well, especially with artists I look up to. I really just want everyone to have a good time with the track and dance and vibe to it.”
