Whether you’ve caught his name in the lineups of the hottest clubs and festivals or heard his tracks on SoundCloud or Spotify, Arthur Tan’s music has been a constant presence. With over 15 years of creative exploration, he’s unveiling his latest sound that could be the reason why you go to parties again.
Before finding his footing in the world of music, Arthur has touched diverse disciplines from dance and photography, to film and production. Yet, it was music that ultimately captivated him, leading him to earn a Master’s Degree in Music Technology from New York University. Since then, things have only gotten better.
Getting into music has opened a lot of doors for Arthur. Around the middle of this year, he held “Curated Frequencies”, a spatial and 3D audio event at the Ayala Museum. The sonic exhibition was a first of its kind in the country. He shared, “I wanted it to be an immersive, multi-sensory experience to show that dance music isn’t just constrained to partying—it can be elevated in many ways. From the visuals to the spatial audio, and the reactive lights, everything about it was curated.”
During the immersive experience, he shared the spotlight with other members of After The Noon Records, a music label and artist management company he co-founded. Their label is dedicated to supporting a diverse and emerging community of DJs and producers from Asia, reaching audiences around the world.
Back when he started making a name for himself in 2017, Arthur gained recognition as he landed gigs almost every night. His creativity, far beyond his years, also led him to produce and collaborate with various artists. In 2021, he released the “After the Party” EP under Tarsier Records, capturing the spirit of his late-night adventures in New York City and Manila.
Arthur also became the former Head of A&R for CARELESS, where he helped shape the careers of artists like James Reid, Lesha, Massiah, and August Wahh. Additionally, he produced official remixes for James Reid’s “Soda” and Nadine Lustre’s “Intoxicated.” His influence further extends to nightlife, where he curated experiences as the Music Director for Notorious Concepts, the team behind Poblacion favorites like HQ, Alamat, and Japonesa.
The multi-faceted creative’s impact also goes beyond the local scene, with residencies in New York as Resident DJ at Silver Factory NYC and Smithfield Hall NYC. He hopes to use his experience to connect talents from Asia with audiences worldwide, highlighting the region as a hub for DJs and unique musical experiences.
Throughout every creative pursuit he has tried, one thing remains constant—he’s ready to deliver fresh beats to those seeking something different. And together with After The Noon, he’s on a mission to bring Filipino DJ culture and music internationally. He has done it with Creative Frequencies, but it’s just the beginning. There’s a good chance you might see him take it on once more.
