Horror-Suspense is one of the more resilient film genres of this day and age. So now that it’s Ghost Month, what better time than to mount a unique film festival that highlights the very best and latest horror films from Asia. From August 28 to September 3, SM Cinemas presents their AuGhost Exclusives, with special ticket prices at 150 pesos only.

AuGhost Exclusives are made up of four films, two from Thailand – Haunted Universities 3 and The Cursed Land, one from Taiwan – Mystery Writers, and one from Cambodia – Z-Mom. The four are guaranteed fresh releases, being shown in Philippine cinemas for the first time, and they’ve tracked very well in their respective countries.

Haunted Universities 3 is a horror anthology film with three campus-related stories; while The Cursed Land asks us to travel with a widower and his daughter as he tries to take control of the djinn unleashed in their rundown home. Mystery Writers takes the real-life 1984 accident at the Jin Xin Building, where a fire broke out and claimed the lives of 19 people, and turns it into a horror drama. Z-Mom takes place at a holiday resort, where a Mom turns hero to save her family from the zombie horde that’s taken over the island.

From being relegated as the B-movies of decades past, the Horror films of today are instrumental in keeping the industry robust. Enjoy this taste of Horror, Asia-style!
