AXA Philippines became the first insurance company to receive the Award of Excellence in Industrial Safe Man Hours from the Safety Organization of the Philippines, Inc. The insurance provider earned this recognition after achieving an impressive 8,935,704 safe man-hours without any lost-time accidents for the period covered. This industry-first award is among the various achievements propelling the company today, reaffirming its commitment to protecting what matters most to its people and customers.
Since entering the Philippine market in 1999, AXA has lived up to its reputation of being a global leader in insurance and investments, thanks to its comprehensive range of quality products and services. Beyond its innovative ways of addressing the ever-changing needs of its customers, the insurer has also established a commendable track record in enforcing industrial safety standards. These standards are maintained through the implementation of sustainable industry safety best practices and programs, such as deploying safety and health personnel in various offices, conducting Hazard Identification Risks Assessment and Control (HIRAC) initiatives across its operational areas, disseminating health-related advisories, and providing employee training and awareness programs, including Standard First Aid and Basic Life Support with CPR training. Additionally, health and industrial safety practices are reinforced through guidance from certified professionals from various government and non-government organizations and through cooperation and dialogue with employees.
Kathleen Driz, Chief Operating Officer of AXA Philippines, expressed her pride in gaining recognition for the notable safety standards and practices enforced by the organization. She said, “We are incredibly honored to be recognized by the Safety Organization of the Philippines for our commitment to safety. As a company dedicated to protecting what really matters, we employ no less than the highest standards in safety for the well-being of our employees and customers.”
Paulo Punzalan, Health and Safety Manager of AXA Philippines, emphasized the significance of this achievement within the insurance industry. “In an industry where trust is paramount, this recognition sets AXA apart,” Punzalan stated. “By going beyond compliance and placing safety at the core of our values, we demonstrate a genuine commitment to well-being within and beyond the organization. This is what truly defines AXA.”
As AXA heads into its 25th year in the country, the insurer sets its sights on maintaining its position as a leader in industrial safety practices for its people, and in turn, continuously providing value-adding services to customers and the wider community. The company remains steadfast in its mission to act for human progress while upholding its tradition of excellence in the insurance industry for the next 25 years and beyond.
