As part of its commitment to uplifting communities during this special season of giving, Concepcion Industrial Corporation (CIC), the leading home and enterprise solutions provider, empowered its adopted communities in Barangay Alabang Riles and Barangay Diezmo Cabuyao through the fourth annual “Be The Light” Christmas initiative. CIC employees volunteered to bring holiday cheer to children in these local Barangays.
At the heart of this initiative is giving back to their larger community, where CIC employees dedicated time and resources to uplifting others. Volunteers distributed Christmas gift bags complete with toys and food to children and hosted a celebratory program entitled “Masayang Salu-Salo Sa Pasko” featuring Filipino games and performances—an inspiring demonstration of teamwork, compassion, and genuine commitment to supporting fellow Filipinos.
“Masaya ako na nakasali ang anak ko sa event na ‘to. Isang simpleng araw ng Pasko, laro, at mga donasyon, malaki na ang naitutulong sa amin dito. Maganda kasi siya dahil nakakatulong siya sa development ng bata,” (“I am happy my child got to participate in this event. It’s nice because it helps with the development of the child. A simple day of Christmas celebration, games, and donations goes a long way for us here.”) said Angeline Koderoso, a mother from Barangay Alabang Riles.
“Sa araw-araw, vendor ako, nagtitinda ng basahan habang nag-aalaga sa mga anak ko. Kaya’t sobrang espesyal ng araw na ‘to para sa amin, at tuwang-tuwa ako na nakapunta kami. Sobra silang natuwa,” (“On a daily basis, I’m a vendor, and I sell rags while taking care of my kids. So, today was extra special for us and I am glad we were able to attend. It made them really happy.”) said Susan Dela Cruz, another Barangay Alabang Riles resident.
Launched in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, CIC’s “Be the Light” initiative initially focused on providing Noche Buena gift donations to families in partnership with the Assumption Alumnae Association, reaching communities across the country, including Baguio, Pampanga, Taguig, Samar, and Iloilo. Post-pandemic, CIC shifted its focus to supporting nearby areas, enabling employee volunteers to create in-person holiday celebrations for adopted communities.
“It’s important for us to adapt our initiatives to address pressing needs within our extended community,” said Rafael C. Hechanova, Jr., Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at CIC. “We are grateful for our hardworking employees and hope the community efforts this Season of Giving continue to inspire others.”
This year’s program, supported by KC Wonderland Corporation (World of Fun), OTTO Shoes, and Gardenia Bakeries Philippines, Inc., exemplifies CIC’s ongoing commitment to serving local communities and enriching the lives of Filipinos, particularly during the holidays — a special season of giving back.
