The Korean disaster thriller movie “Concrete Utopia,” which grossed over $28 million, is now streaming on Viu Philippines.

“Concrete Utopia,” Korea’s fourth highest grossing film of 2023, is set in Seoul after a devastating earthquake. In the story, everything is in shambles except for the Hwang Gung Apartments, which remains intact. As outsiders flock to Hwang Gung Apartments to escape the cold, young couple Min-sung (played by Park Seo-joon) and Myung-hwa (played by Park Boo-young) must decide on the best course of action while the mysterious Yeong-tak (Lee Byung-Hun) emerges to lead the fate of the community. In no time, the apartment is filled beyond capacity, driving the residents to enact harsh measures for their survival.

Since its theatrical release in South Korea in August 2023, “Concrete Utopia” has captured the hearts and imagination of audiences across the globe with its riveting story, suspenseful drama, and powerful performances. It was warmly received in international filmfests, particularly the Toronto International Film Festival, Sitges International Film Festival, Hawaii International Film Festival, International Film Festival of India, and Kolkata International Film Festival.

In its country of origin, South Korea, the movie gained many recognitions including six awards at the Grand Bell Awards where it won Best Film, Best Visual Effects, Best Art Director, Best Sound Editing and Best Actor for Lee Byung-hun and Best Support Supporting Actress for Kim Sun-young.

Moreover, the Korean Film Council unanimously selected “Concrete Utopia” as official entry for the Best International Feature Film category of the 2024 Oscars.

“Concrete Utopia” (in original Korean with English subtitles, and in Tagalog-dubbed version) is available for streaming exclusively for Viu Premium subscribers.

Download the Viu app now via the Apple Store or Play Store or visit www.viu.com to watch Asian movies and series.
