Kapamilya singer-songwriter Jel Rey treasures the special friendship where one can feel comfortable despite being awkward among people in his new single “Naiilang.”

Jel Rey composed the indie-pop track about being grateful to a friend who helps one navigate through socializing with other people. It was also produced by StarPop label head Roque “Rox” Santos.

Prior to “Naiilang,” Jel Rey released his first extended play (EP) “TERAPEWTIKA” featuring the singles “Nasa Alapaap Ang Paraluman” and “hele pono” with the latter being nominated for Best Performance by a New Solo Artist at the 37th Awit Awards.

“Naalala ko last year, when I first heard the final mix of my song, jino-joke ko yung friend ko na ‘pre pang-Awit Awards talaga ‘to’ tapos ngayon, I actually got nominated. Manifestation really works,” Jel Rey said in a TikTok post.

The up-and-coming artist describes his writing style as adventurous as he explores different genres ranging from rock, hip hop, and soul. He also makes unique content on TikTok showcasing his music, songwriting process, and singing to random strangers.
