The Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID) hosted its Open House last June 1, at the PSID Ahlen Institute on Bayani Road, Taguig City. The event buzzed with aspiring interior designers, industry professionals, and design enthusiasts, all eager to explore the world of interior design and gain insights from PSID’s faculty and students.
A day of discovery and inspiration
The day kicked off with a guided tour of PSID’s state-of-the-art facilities. Attendees explored classrooms, drafting rooms, the library, the Design Spectrum presentation room, and the French Room multi-purpose social hall, gaining a firsthand look at the environment that fosters creativity and innovation at PSID.
Idr Pojie Pambid, Vice President for Academic Affairs, remarked on the importance of showcasing the institution’s resources.
“Our facilities are designed to foster a learning environment that encourages creativity and practical application. Seeing our students’ and visitors’ enthusiastic responses reaffirms our commitment to providing top-tier education in interior design,” he remarked.
Current interior design students Marese Coco and Nadine Javier shared insights into their unique design journeys, detailing their progression from simple projects to more intricate and sophisticated work.
Equipping success in the real world
An Alumni Talk by Idr Nikko Sotoridona and Idr Mark Steven Perez of Empire Designs highlighted the event. As proud PSID alumni, they shared their inspiring journey from graduating at the top of their class in 2008 to leading the design of high-end residential and commercial projects.
“PSID provided me with a solid foundation in both technical and creative aspects of interior design. The education I received in the school not only sharpened my skills but also instilled in me the confidence to carve out my niche in the industry,” shared Perez.
Sotoridona, who recently launched his own firm, Studio Aleia, credited his success to the comprehensive education and mentorship he received at PSID. “PSID instilled in us the drive to be more than just employees. The school empowered us to become leaders—to be our own bosses—and innovators in the field,” Sotoridona said.
Celebrating a legacy of excellence
The Open House also served as a tribute to PSID’s prestigious legacy as a trailblazer in Philippine interior design education. This commitment to excellence is evident in their comprehensive curriculum, esteemed faculty with industry experience, and the school’s impressive track record of top performers in the interior design licensure exam.
“Our mission has always been to provide a holistic education that combines technical expertise, theoretical knowledge, and real-world application,” Pambid reiterated. “We are proud of our graduates who continue to make significant contributions to the field of interior design, both locally and internationally.”
