Sam “SV” Verzosa has always believed that true leadership lies in service—and this has shaped his journey as a businessman, philanthropist, and partylist representative. Combining his sharp business instincts with a deep commitment to public service, SV has carved out a path where success is measured not just by profit, but by the lives he touches and the communities he uplifts.
His commitment to service shines through in Dear SV, a public service TV program which premiered in 2023 on CNN Philippines and is now in its second season on GMA Network. In the show, he shares the struggles and triumphs of ordinary people while providing them with opportunities – from sustainable livelihoods, scholarships, and financial assistance.
SV sees the show as more than just television; it’s a platform for real impact and a tribute to his late father, whose lessons of perseverance and humility continue to guide him. He reflected, “Dear SV is my way of giving back and honoring my father, who always believed in helping others. He challenged me and my siblings to pursue our goals, but he also reminded us to lift others as we rise.”
In addition to his personal show, SV has also joined the highly anticipated comeback show Wil to Win, co-hosted by Willie Revillame. SV’s involvement in this show allows him to reach even more Filipinos, offering them promising opportunities to improve their lives through entertainment and prizes. SV shared his enthusiasm for the new platform, emphasizing how it aligns with his mission of helping uplift those in need.
While engaging with audiences on screen, SV has also been busy making an impact in his hometown through public service. SV returned to his roots in Sampaloc earlier in June, for his Araw ng Kalayaan initiative. As a representative of the Tutok To Win Partylist, he led a series of outreach initiatives that showcased his dedication to public service. He donated 17 multi-purpose “Serbisyo Vans” to various zones of Sampaloc, which will serve as emergency response vehicles and support civic work.
Along with the vans, SV introduced SV Mobile Clinics, equipped with cutting-edge medical tools such as X-ray machines and ultrasound equipment. These clinics are a testament to his hands-on approach to addressing healthcare needs in his district. During the event, he personally guided guests through the facilities, highlighting how these mobile clinics will bring healthcare directly to those in need.
In addition to these healthcare efforts, SV also distributed wheelchairs to senior citizens and persons with disabilities, reaffirming his commitment to the marginalized. Reflecting on his humble beginnings, he shared, “Growing up, I understood the struggles of those with limited means. It’s important to remember that true success isn’t just financial—it’s about being able to give back and uplift others.”
When Typhoon Carina hit its devastating force, becoming one of the strongest storms to hit the Philippines this year, SV wasted no time in stepping up to lead relief efforts in Delpan and Baseco Compound, Manila. He organized medical missions, providing free checkups, maintenance medicines, and more through his mobile clinics. He also distributed “love” packs with essentials like Spam, Delimondo, rice, and coffee to the residents. These efforts reflect his deep-rooted desire to serve his fellow Manileños, especially as he sets his sights on the upcoming mayoral race.
As a leader, SV’s strength comes not just from his successes but from the struggles that shaped him. In Congress, he championed anti-poverty and education-focused initiatives, including House Bill 4827, which seeks to establish E-Skwela Hubs to support digital learning for underprivileged students.
He also authored House Bill 4829, the Online Philippine Pharmacy Act, aimed at regulating online pharmacies and safeguarding public health. His proposed Poor Job Applicants Discount Act offers financial relief to job seekers by providing discounts on government-required certifications.
SV’s ability to merge his business expertise with his public service mission is key to his leadership style. As the president of Maserati Philippines and CEO of Frontrow, a direct-selling company in the wellness industry, SV applies his entrepreneurial skills to fuel sustainable community development programs. His ventures provide resources and opportunities, from livelihood programs to scholarships, helping to foster growth and progress among the urban poor.
