Davao Fashion and Design Council Foundation Inc., (DFDCFI) in collaboration with Discovery Samal, presented a mesmerizing launch for The Stellar Fashion Gala, a charity event aimed at promoting local fashion talent and supporting charitable causes within the community. The event, held at Discovery Samal’s luxurious function spaces, brought together media representatives, brand partners, and distinguished guests for an unforgettable afternoon of glamour and generosity.
The launch kicked off with a scrumptious pass-around cocktails reception at the Main Lobby, where guests mingled and savored signature drinks amidst a backdrop of anticipation and excitement. As the event commenced, guests were welcomed with warm remarks and acknowledgments, setting the stage for an afternoon of inspiration and celebration.
Emi Englis, the President of DFDCFI welcomed everyone with his message that is filled with heartfelt gratitude towards all the guests. He highlighted the importance of supporting local talent and charitable initiatives, which resonated with the audience and sparked a sense of unity and collaboration for the rest of the afternoon.
One of the highlights of the Launch was the captivating video presentations showcasing the event’s partners, sponsors and the Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI). These visual narratives provided insights into the collaborative efforts and shared vision behind The Stellar Fashion Gala, highlighting the event’s commitment to promoting sustainable fashion and community empowerment.
Industry partners also graced the event, Department of Tourism Region XI, Regional Director, Ms. Tanya Rabat-Tan, Department of Science and Technology Region XI, Ms. Judy de Asis-Nueva Ecija, Department of Trade and Industry Region XI, Division Chief, Mr. Arriel Nengasca, The President of Mindanao Trade Expo Foundation Inc., Dr. Rosevic Cembrano and Executive Director Ms. Marian Comilang, The Director of the Philippine Textile Research Institute, Dr. Julius Leaño Jr., Mr. Jackie Aquino of JCA Productions and our friends from the media during the event, the guests enjoyed a stunning fashion show in the main lobby. The collections were created by incredibly talented local designers and showcased an array of vibrant colors, intricate designs and innovative styles. The runway was truly captivating, highlighting the richness of Filipino creativity and craftsmanship. The guests were completely engrossed by the show and left feeling impressed and inspired.
Following the fashion show, a special presentation introduced the designers behind the showcased collections, providing guests with an opportunity to learn more about their inspirations and creative processes – Aztec Barba, Dodjie Batu, Emi Englis, Edgar Buyan, Benjie Panizales, Windel Mira, Ebay Ayag and Bamba Limon.
The Stellar Fashion Gala’s launch culminated in a momentous ceremonial exchange, during which representatives from the Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI), Mindanao Trade Expo Foundation Inc. (MTEFI), Davao Fashion and Design Council (DFDC), JCA Productions and Discovery Samal officially announced their commitment to the Gala. This symbolic gesture marked the beginning of a collaborative journey towards empowering local talent and making a positive impact in the community.
A press conference provided media representatives with an opportunity to engage with key stakeholders and gain deeper insights into the event’s objectives, initiatives, and impact.

The Stellar Fashion Gala is set to happen on September 28, 2024 at the the Caracoles Convention Hall of Discovery Samal where 600 guests are expected to graced the first event of its kind in the island.
