The Surprising Link Between the Rainy Season and Your Gut

During this time of year, many parts of the world welcome the relief from scorching summer heat. However, in the Philippines, where summer is felt year-round, the rainy season adds to the already stressful elements that trigger a downpour of illnesses, from the common cold to more serious diseases. The change in weather and increased humidity, combined with the heightened activity towards the end of the year, can wreak havoc on anyone’s health.

With 70% of your body’s immunity coming from the gut, this is where probiotics come in – natural defenders in your gut, fortifying your immune system and providing essential support, especially during the rainy season and year-round.

Probiotics such as Erceflora delivers billions of Bacillus clausii spores into the digestive tract where they work to restore intestinal flora, leading to improved digestion, enhanced gut function, and strengthened immune response against harmful bacteria.

“In our quest to make more informed healthcare choices, it is important to take proactive steps early on to achieve lifelong wellness,” Rica Mateo, ASEA Erceflora Zone Brand Lead shared. “The sooner we start taking better care of our immune system through the gut, the healthier we can be.”

Amidst an already busy lifestyle, is it really worth the time and effort to ensure probiotics are introduced to one’s diet? According to the National Institutes of Health, yes! Probiotics are seen to improve one’s immune system and prevent or treat several health conditions such as diarrhea, inflammatory bowel disease, and irritable bowel syndrome.

The good news is that including probiotics into anyone’s diet at any age can be done in three easy ways:

1. Having a balanced diet

Since the gut performs a critical function of nutrient absorption and strengthening the immune system, it requires the support of proper and sufficient nutrition. The good news is there is no need for special foods or extraordinary preparation – introducing fiber rich foods such as fruits and vegetables to your diet is an easy and immediate first step towards healthy eating. A balanced diet requires no restrictions; eating whole and fresh foods can help support a healthy gut even if you indulge in treats every now and then.

2. Taking probiotic supplements regularly

Carefully tailoring your diet may take some time to adjust to. An easier and more immediate solution is to incorporate probiotic supplements to actively introduce beneficial bacteria to your gut. By taking probiotic drinks such as Erceflora Gut Defense, a probiotic drink that helps enhance the intestinal ecology, once or twice a day, you can support your immune system and promote a healthier gut microbiome overall.

3. Preparing to respond to moments of gut vulnerability

If you have ever been put in situations of bowel discomfort caused by consuming unsanitized meats or taking antibiotic treatments, you know how challenging dealing with that diarrhea can be. When your gut is already compromised, probiotic drinks like Erceflora Gut Restore can aid the enhancement of natural resistance to intestinal infection of children and adults.

During the rainy season, it’s especially important to maintain a healthy gut microbiome, as it is the foundation of a healthy body and mind. Prioritizing your gut health by ensuring it receives the necessary good bacteria at all times is a step in the right direction for overall wellness, regardless of your age or circumstances in life.

“It’s never too late to start nurturing your gut microbiome. By making small, sustainable changes to your lifestyle, you can cultivate a thriving ecosystem that supports your health in countless ways,” Mateo underscored.

You can purchase a box of Erceflora in your nearest drug store or pharmacy, or online through the Sanofi Official Store at LazMall, Shopee Mall, and Tiktok Mall.
