The journey to discovering what enlivens one’s inner traveler takes a level of dedication to exploring and experiencing the many types of destinations and activities out there in the world. Klook makes this much easier by providing its users with a plethora of listings led by travel professionals, ranging from big enterprises and small intimate family-run businesses. These small businesses have made massive feats in their own fields having grown their businesses from the ground up.
Through thick and thin, the fathers who run these businesses have tons of experience and advice when it comes to tourism. What better way to navigate your journey towards your own world of joy, than to consult with dads who just so happen to run Klooker-favorite listings!
What do the Klook dads have to say?
A civil engineer by profession, Russel Terbio learned the ropes of his father’s company “Lexxus Shuttle” by taking over his father, Mike, in managing a single shuttle van back in the late 90s. Having expanded the business massively, thanks to hard work and strategic partnerships, he’s now a proud owner at 50, with 3 lovely daughters.
With all that experience on his belt, he’s definitely got a few things to say about traveling. “When it comes to traveling, I advise my daughters to always prioritize their safety. This includes researching their destinations, understanding local customs, and being aware of their surroundings. I encourage them to stay connected with family and friends, keeping them informed of their whereabouts.” He also believes in making the most out of travels, treating them more than just a new photo opportunity “I advise them to travel with an open mind, embracing new cultures and experiences while being respectful and considerate of the places they visit.”
Paolo Morillo is the current general manager of Hannah Hotel Boracay, a well-loved accommodation by both locals and foreigners and a father of one. Now at 39, Paolo has years of dedication and expertise on his track which he shares with both his family and customers. His favorite advice is to dive deep into the destinations you plan to visit.
“As much as possible, try to really immerse in the place you want to go. Try to talk and play with local kids, and eat their local food. Be mindful of the community, and just have a deeper understanding of the place and the people’s way of life.”
For Kim Guzman, his parents founded “Eas-Ellen’s Travel & Tours” when he was in grade school which eventually was passed on to him and his brother after they graduated from college. Having first-hand experience of operations during their school breaks, Kim applied his knowledge and skills to the succeeding years of working at the company.
Knowing the beauty of travel from his parents at such an early age, Kim suggests first-time parents to do the same, “Travel first with your family. When they grow up, then they can explore the world on their own. Our children will learn from us how to travel first hand and we hope that our children will apply it when they are traveling on their own in the future,” he shares.
And for the documents? Of course, what is fatherly advice without a stern reminder to be well-equipped with everything you need? As per Russel, “Lastly, I remind my kids to ensure they have all necessary travel documents, insurance, and emergency contacts organized before they embark on their journeys.”
With Klook, all families have a way to discover the beauty of their chosen destination whether local or abroad. Not only does it create lifelong memories but it also encourages meaningful growth.
