Part of my trip includes a tour in Melaka which includes visiting some of the popular sites there including the A’Famosa Safari Wonderland and Water World. It’s my first time to watch an elephant show that swims in a huge aquarium, and took the ‘Safari Adventure Ride’ to see the tamed wild animals.
The following day, we visisted the Dutch Square, or Red Square, a historical landmark with colonial charm. This collection of Dutch buildings, the oldest in Asia, now houses fascinating museums, including the enriching History and Ethnography Museum, which offers a glimpse into Melaka’s past.
There you can also find the Christ Church Melaka, the oldest Dutch church outside the Netherlands. The church’s unique architecture, including its wooden ceiling beams carved from a single tree, is a testament to its historical significance.
A visit to the Porta de Santiago, A’Famosa ruins, was necessary. This crumbling structure, a poignant reminder of Melaka’s past, provided a picturesque backdrop for some stunning photographs.
No visit to Melaka is complete without experiencing the ruins of St. Paul’s Church, the oldest church in Southeast Asia. Its 5th-century history is palpable, evident in the engraved tombstones, the statue of St. Francis Xavier, and the imposing bell tower.
For a truly immersive cultural experience, I attended Encore Melaka, a captivating 70-minute performance. This mesmerizing show, with its state-of-the-art production and 360-degree rotating audience platform, transported me through time, recounting the untold stories of Melaka and the lives of its people.
A serene Melaka River Cruise offered a different perspective of the city. Gliding along the river, I admired the charming shophouses, historical landmarks, and the vibrant city life unfolding on the banks.
I ascended the Taming Sari Tower for breathtaking panoramic views. The ride provided a spectacular 360-degree vista of the city, showcasing landmarks like St. Paul’s Hill, the Independence Memorial Building, and the Straits of Malacca.
My cultural immersion continued at Malaysia Heritage Studios. This unique museum offered a fascinating glimpse into Malaysia’s diverse heritage, showcasing traditional state houses and legendary characters.
Also dropped by at COACH Airways at Freeport A’Famosa Outlet.
