Enderun Colleges marked the conclusion of the second annual Ed Rodriguez Memorial Cup at Wack-Wack Golf & Country Club on January 16, 2025. The event united industry leaders, alumni, and the Enderun community for a day of meaningful celebration.
The event began with Jenny Wu, Enderun student ambassador, hosting the tournament and setting the tone for the day. Enderun President Dr. Jun Salipsip delivered the opening remarks: “Today is more than just a golf tournament. It is a celebration of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and generosity. It is a day where we unite for a noble cause: to support the Enderun Athletics scholarship program and the underprivileged youth. By being here today, you are not only commemorating the memory of a great leader, former Enderun President Ed Rodriguez, but also contributing to a brighter future for students who will benefit immensely from your kindness and support.” The opening tee-off was performed by Enderun’s Chief Operating Officer, Daniel Perez. Golf enthusiasts from diverse industries took to the green, showcasing impressive skills and sportsmanship as the competition unfolded.
The highlight of the day was the announcement of the tournament winners. The fierce yet friendly competition showcased the strong sense of community that Enderun strives to cultivate among its members. The afternoon festivities culminated in a lively awarding ceremony and a raffle, setting the stage for an atmosphere of excitement and appreciation. The winners received prizes generously provided by sponsors such as Ducati Philippines, Marriott International & Creative Ventures Travel & Tours, and Parikit Manila. Other sponsors included GolfX, Pacific Union Insurance Company, Conti’s, Wendy’s, Sta. Elena Construction and Development Corporation, Ayala Land Premier, Buildmart, FG Clinic, Thaison Builders & Electric Garden, Mercidar Fishing Corporation, EDSA Shangri-La, Discovery Primea, Holiday Inn, Vida Philippines, The Aurora Subic Hotel, Picasso Boutique Serviced Residences, Kgolf Alabang, Reynaldo’s Smokehouse, Body Mechanics, Enderun Coworking Enderun Extension and Martelino Law Firm.
The event was led by students from Enderun’s Leadership Program, under the guidance of Daniel Perez. Rafael Datoc, a BS Business Administration student majoring in Technology Management and the overall head of the event, shared his experience: “Organizing this golf tournament in honor of Dean Ed holds special significance for all of us. It allows us to celebrate his enduring legacy. This tournament is not just about the game—it’s about honoring everything he represented, like leadership, sportsmanship, and a sense of community. The Leadership Program at Enderun has taught me that true leadership goes beyond managing tasks. An effective leader is one who can empower others and help them find meaning and value in what they do.” Perez took a moment to acknowledge the Leadership Program students and student volunteers, inviting them on stage for a well-deserved round of applause and a photo opportunity.
Beyond the tribute to Dr. Rodriguez’s legacy, the event had a broader, long-lasting impact. Proceeds from the tournament are set to benefit Enderun’s Student-Athletes Scholarship Program, ensuring that aspiring student-athletes have the opportunity to thrive both academically and in sports.
The Ed Rodriguez Memorial Cup not only celebrated the game of golf but also reinforced the spirit of community, leadership, and a tribute to an esteemed leader whose vision continues to shape Enderun’s future.
