GIGIL raises PH flag as the only ad agency to win both in Cannes Lions and D&AD 2025

Top Filipino independent creative agency GIGIL bagged medals from both the world’s most celebrated creative festival, and advertising toughest show—and is the only Filipino company to do so in 2025.

GIGIL continued its notable performance at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, often referred to as the “Oscars of Advertising.” Winning a Cannes Lion is the highest honor an agency can receive, representing not only outstanding creative achievement but also industry-wide recognition of the impact a campaign has had on culture and consumer behavior.

GIGIL earned 2 metals in the highly competitive Film Lions category. The award-winning campaigns, ‘Steal‘ for Mandaue Foam Home Store, and ‘Miracle‘ for RC Cola, each received a Bronze Lion.

This marks GIGIL’s fourth year in the past five to bring home an award from the prestigious festival, underscoring the agency’s consistency in producing world-class and groundbreaking work for its clients. These two Film Lions also represent a significant milestone, as it is the first time that an agency from the Philippines has won two Film Lions for two different clients and campaigns in the same year.

GIGIL also secured 3 awards for Mandaue Foam “Steal” and RC Cola “Miracle” from the D&AD (Design & Art Direction) Awards based in London. This includes Graphite and Wood Pencils for Film for “Steal,” and a Wood Pencil for Film for “Miracle.” Established in 1962, the D&AD Awards are widely recognized as one of the most challenging international creative awards shows in the design and advertising industry, known for their unwavering commitment to creative excellence and craft.

“Winning a Lion at Cannes is a significant achievement, and to secure two in the same year, following our wins at D&AD, is something we are very proud of,” said Herbert Hernandez, Founding Partner and Chief Creative Officer at GIGIL. “We are honored to represent the Philippines on the global stage and showcase the calibre of Filipino creativity.”

Both campaigns for RC Cola and Mandaue Foam were created in collaboration with Arcade Film Factory’s director Marius Talampas.

On top of these creative accolades, GIGIL has distinguished itself in marketing effectiveness, being the most award-winning Philippine agency for marketing effectiveness in the APAC Effies, the region’s preeminent awards show for successful advertising campaigns. GIGIL has achieved this recognition for five consecutive years, underscoring the consistent, results-driven impact of its campaigns.
