It takes a Family: Clark International Airport Launches Tribute Mural Honoring its People

It truly takes more than just a village to build an award-winning airport.

But let it not be forgotten that families make up the villages.

With the case of the Clark International Airport (CRK), its family of employees, especially those working behind the scenes, deserves to be celebrated for the support and inspiration they provide.

CRK, which is operated by Luzon International Premier Airport Development (LIPAD), has unveiled a new mural project dedicated to its unsung heroes, all airport workers.

Spanning three walls and covering nearly 94 square meters, the vibrant mural is a visual tribute to the teamwork, energy, and resilience of the CRK community composed not only of LIPAD employees but also all government agencies, concessionaires, airlines and ground handlers, and service providers. They may represent different companies but they all belong to one family, the CRK family.

Painted by the Porac Young Artists, the mural features three different scenes. The first wall offers a glimpse of the bustling life at the airport, with its curved roofs, waiting benches, retail spaces, and silhouettes of travelers and employees.

The second wall zooms in on the people of CRK. Here, each face is rendered in vivid hues to reflect the diversity and dynamism of the workforce.

The third wall, awash in sunset tones, features the airport’s rear view — an airplane, and the silhouettes of workers and passengers moving forward toward the horizon, a powerful metaphor for service and hope.

“This mural isn’t just art, it’s a recognition of the people who make CRK a world-class airport,” said Noel Manankil, President and CEO of Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corp. or LIPAD, the operator of CRK. “Our airport family, from our frontliners to our behind-the-scenes staff, plays a critical role in our journey. We’ve always known they were at the heart of Clark, and now they’re on the walls for everyone to see.”

Porac Young Artists led by Jay-R Malig, draws inspiration from the collective mission of the CRK team. The group was formed by Porac Tourism in 2021. It is known for colorful, playful murals that aim to spark joy and imagination. Its artists have previously worked on public art in barangays, schools, and community spaces in Pampanga.

This latest project is not just a creative statement but a reflection of CRK’s core values, community, commitment, and continuous progress. “Art has a way of making stories visible,” added Manankil. “And this mural tells the story of our people, with all the color, spirit, and heart they bring to work every single day.”
