Global K-Superstar J-Hope of BTS delivered two sold-out shows at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena last April 12 and 13, delighting fans with his exceptional showmanship. As a member of BTS, the biggest boyband in the world, his “Hope On The Stage” tour has long been one of the most anticipated concerts this year. True to being a global icon, his two-night stop at the SM MOA Arena was filled with enthralling stages that entertained ARMY (BTS’s official fandom name) all night long.
The ultimate fan gathering for PH ARMY
ARMY, the official BTS fandom name, is widely known for their unconditional dedication and support for the K-pop group. For J-Hope’s Manila stop, over 40 Philippine-based ARMY fanbases gathered to show solidarity and collective support, paving the way for their “HOPEful in Manila” fan project. From placements on lamppost banners and the SM MOA Globe a week before the show to turning the SM MOA Music Hall into their own fanzone during the concert days, PH ARMY across the country came together to express their excitement for the tour at the SM MOA Complex.

Artistry in movement and stage design

J-Hope, known for his creative and playful concepts, crafted his unique stage to perfectly match his songs. Each Light-Emitting Diode (LED)-covered screen, comprising several lifters, enhances the impact of every performance. The lifters changed their arrangement and moved all throughout the show, following the artist’s dynamic movements and upbeat songs. Two large LED screens were also purposely placed in a tilted position to give the fans a better viewing experience. Overall, whether the lifters were positioned unevenly or out of the audience’s perspective, the rapper and singer-songwriter shined on stage, mesmerizing ARMY not only with his captivating steps but also with his innovative stage design.

Sweet dreams turned to reality
After waiting for 7 years, PH ARMY was elated to have a member of BTS return to the Philippines and hold a concert for the fans. True to expectations, J-Hope created two nights of core memories for his Filipino fans through top-tier live performances and unforgettable fan interactions. Fans at the arena were able to witness firsthand his bright and energetic personality as he conversed with his Filipino ARMY in local dialect, saying greetings like “mahal ko kayo” and “salamat po.” During his performance of his singles, Mona Lisa and = (Equal Sign), J-Hope even got up close with some lucky ARMY, which prompted cheers from the crowd as it was shown on the big screens.

Towards the end of the show, J-Hope promised the fans that he will return soon, which provoked the crowd to chant “BTS,” anticipating that his return will be with the other six members of the global K-pop group.
