In a bold and unprecedented act of digital protest, livesellers will pause their livestream selling sessions for five full minutes in solidarity against vote selling — a practice that undermines democracy and the power of the Filipino vote. This pause, branded as #MineAngBotoKo, aims to spark national reflection and inspire action ahead of the upcoming elections.
#MineAngBotoKo will use silence and stillness to confront a long-standing electoral issue: vote buying and selling. During the five-minute pause, the screens will display powerful messaging that underscores the dignity of every vote and the true cost of selling it short.
The digital demonstration is the first of its kind in the Philippines, leveraging the influence of e-commerce livestreams — where audiences interact directly with sellers — to send a powerful message against vote manipulation. By pressing pause, these livesellers are calling on fellow Filipinos to reclaim their right to choose without influence or coercion.
“This is exactly the kind of hope the youth gives us,” said Ernesto Ferdinand Maceda, Commissioner-in-charge of Comelec’s Kontra-Bigay Campaign “the hope that we are raising a generation of voters who understand the power of their voice and are willing to protect it. Let’s continue working together to ensure that these young voters inherit an electoral system worthy of their trust.”
“The strength of a nation’s democracy lies in the hands of its youth. When they say no to vote-buying and yes to integrity, they become the voice of real change.” further noted by Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia.
The event is part of the larger MineAngBotoKo movement, a nationwide campaign endorsed by Comelec and FYT Media, and supported by Gcash and CDO Foodsphere, aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the Filipino vote through creative civic action.
“Hindi lang ito basta advocacy. Isa itong layunin na may diskarte. Creativity na may direksyon. Kampanyang hindi lang nagpapatawa — kundi nagpapaisip, at sana, nag-uudyok na tumanggi,” shared Fyt Co-Founder Voltaire Tupaz in a speech at Comelec.
The #MineAngBotoKo pause is set to take place on 10 May, during peak selling hours, amplifying its reach across thousands of viewers. Livesellers will resume after five minutes of silence, leaving behind a stark reminder: votes are not commodities — they are rights.
As Tupaz shared, “Para ipagsigawan: Hindi for sale ang boto ko. Mine ito. Alay ko sa bayan ko.”
