The Ascott Limited’s first co-living property in the Philippines, lyf Malate Manila celebrated its 2nd anniversary with color and meaning, culminating in a vibrant event filled with music and laughter on July 14.

The series of celebrations featured three major components. Kicking off the festivities was the successful mounting of lyf Centrale, or the brand’s signature community market initiative, from June 28 to 30. It was a gathering that empowered small businesses, offering everything from imaginative art crafts to sumptuous food items, while fostering a strong sense of community—keeping true to lyf’s mission of promoting experience-led social living.

Also part of lyf’s Malate Manila’s 2nd anniversary was the Philippine stop of the brand’s traveling art installation, “Door of Cosmic Dreams.” A global campaign launched in Singapore last year, the initiative reflects lyf’s commitment to combining hospitality with contemporary art and culture. It features lyf’s sculptural door that serves as an experiential gateway to the imagination of a local partner-artist. Collaborating with lyf Malate Manila for its version of the project was digital artist Phonsie Castañeda, who presented a portal of galaxies painted in vivid color, brought to life through animation. The” Door of Cosmic Dreams” will also make stops in other lyf properties worldwide, including Tokyo, Paris, and Bangkok.

Then, from the staging of lyf Centrale to the unveiling of its own “Door of Cosmic Dreams,” all the celebrations of lyf’s Malate Manila’s 2nd anniversary led to one unforgettable gathering on July 14. Titled “2 the Stars,” the event looked back on the property’s eventful first year while celebrating the exciting things ahead. Several musical performances had the crowd swooning and dancing, from Idol Philippines Season 2 Grand Champion Khimo Gumatay to a surprise performance by special guest PLAYERTWO, who ignited the dance floor.

The event’s title, “2 the Stars,” references the importance of the cosmic figure to the brand story of lyf Malate Manila. During its launch last year, the property entered the Guinness World Records for the “Largest Display of Origami Stars,” featuring an astounding total count of 100,000.
