Rolling Stone Philippines made sure to leave a lasting impression among fans and readers when it officially unveiled its maiden issue featuring Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Press Freedom advocate Maria Ressa, “King of Contemporary Cinema” John Lloyd Cruz, and Pinoy Rock Icon Eraserheads on its cover.

The launching, which took place at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater last March 21, not only gave fans an in-depth understanding of the Philippine Free Press as explained by Maria Ressa and John Lloyd’s comeback story, frustrations, and future plans, which were deciphered by the National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee, but also provided a lively discussion featuring personalities such as Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, world-renowned athletes Hidilyn Diaz and EJ Obina, and celebrity chef Erwan Heusaff.

Filmmaker Diane Ventura and Ely Buendia, along with Mr. Francis Lumen of WEU Events, also gave fans a sneak peek of some of the band’s intriguing revelations care of the documentary, Eraserheads: Combo On The Run (which is on extended showing until March 31).

The much-awaited highlight of the event was hyped by Raymund Marasigan’s DJ set, which set the mood for the Eraserheads’ first ever gig on Philippine soil more than two years after their historic Huling El Bimbo concert.

Ely Buendia, Buddy Zabala, Raymund Marasigan, and Marcus Adoro rocked the Maybank Theater with a four-song set featuring the hits: Combo on the Run, Pare Ko, Alapaap, and Magasin.
Now this is how a maiden issue should be sold.

No encore was given. None was needed.

Now that’s how you sell a maiden issue.
