Aside from personifying Somerset Millennium Makati’s three main values, the Christmas Tree also embodies three heartfelt elements.
First, it promotes the cause of Base Bahay Foundation Inc., a non-profit organization initiated by the Hilti Foundation that provides alternative building technologies to help partners build comfortable, affordable, resilient, and environmentally friendly structures with meaningful social impact. According to Tanya Canlas, Base Bahay Foundation head of finance and administration, Somerset Millennium Makati’s Christmas Tree is entirely crafted from bamboo, representing growth, renewal, and the possibility of building a sustainable and hopeful future.
Next, the Christmas Tree features a collection of charming Chibi Pots shaped in various dog and cat breeds. These pieces are produced by Ennoble, a design studio that co-creates with artisans in Bulacan, Bicol, and the National Capital Region who work with abaca, coco coir, wicker, and raffia to craft one-of-a-kind products.
Lastly, the ornament presents a set of handmade items created by employees from recycled and repurposed materials, reflecting the property’s commitment to promoting sustainability.
More to the point, it was also announced during the Christmas Tree lighting event that Somerset Millennium Makati is now operating on 100% renewable energy. ACEN, a leading sustainable energy company in the Philippines, presented a plaque to the serviced residence during the program to formally recognize its full commitment to clean energy.
