
Trevolution Group, a travel group of companies with over two decades of industry experience, has announced its commercial results for 2024, showcasing surging growth in travel demand from the Philippines. More than 163,520 airline tickets were sold to and from the country across business travel, traditional leisure tourism, and the emerging Visiting Friends and Relatives (VFR) segment last year, contributing to over 212.7 million USD in gross bookings. As a result, the Group’s reported gross bookings exceeded $1.2 billion, marking 2024 a year of record growth globally.
Key 2024 Highlights:
- Gross bookings for trips to and from the Philippines—the total USD value, generally inclusive of taxes and fees—generated $212.75 million, accounting to 17.73% of the Group’s overall gross bookings;
- The total number of tickets issued to and from the country amounted to 163,525, marking a 7.86% increase compared to 2023 and showcasing a particularly significant 35.36% growth in outbound travel;
- Economy class was selected for 98.2% of all flight bookings to and from the Philippines, with demand rising by 7.83% since 2023;
- The share of one-way tickets for flights to and from the country increased by 31.84% and amounted to 20.81% of all tickets sold.
Over the years, the Philippines have emerged as a top travel choice for the Group’s customers, and throughout 2024, the demand for transpacific flights to the country increased by 3.1%. However, outbound tourism sector was the one showing the highest surge and going up by significant 35.36% last year and pointing to the country’s progressive economic growth and recovery. Family-oriented destinations, adventure trips, cultural experiences, and long weekend getaways have become increasingly popular, fueling the development of the local tourism sector.

As Trevolution Group’s commercial data reveals, most foreign visitors coming to the Philippines in 2024 originated from the United States and Canada. Similarly to the previous financial period, the top three departure cities remained Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York, with Philippine Airlines, EVA Air and China Airlines ranking as the most frequently used air carriers of choice.

Advanced flight connectivity and improvements in travel infrastructure resulted in more travelers landing in different parts of the country, with Manila welcoming over 75% of all foreign visitors.
Travel from the Philippines showcased growth across all cabin classes last year, with Economy class leading demand and seeing a 36% increase. A total of 160,597 Economy tickets were sold to and from the country, generating $200.19 million or 94% of the total gross bookings. Meanwhile, business-class demand grew at a relatively slower 10.5% pace, generating $12.56 million.
In 2024, round trips accounted to 87.3% of all flights booked to the Philippines, compared to 90.1% in 2023. Additionally, one-way tickets were purchased for 58.5% of all outbound trips with a 32% increase from last year, while return trips indicated a 39% rise.
Last year Filipino customers opted for shorter and more frequent trips with the average length of stay abroad going down from 50 to 36 days compared to the previous travel period in 2023.
According to the Group’s latest sales data, 46.2% of travelers coming to the Philippinesin 2024 booked their flights over 90 days in advance, down by 1.4% from last year. Meanwhile, 10.8% of inbound flights were purchased within 10 days (up from 9.1%), and 22.6% foreign visitors secured tickets within a month (up from 20.6%), indicating an increase in last-minute bookings, coupled with returning travel confidence.

Travelers flying out of the Philippines showed a preference for later bookings, with less than 28% securing their tickets over three months in advance, up from 24.8% in 2023. Almost 15% of air passengers secured their trips up to 10 days in advance and 36.9% – up to a month ahead, continuing the surge in last-minute bookings observed in 2023.
