A Pamana of Commitment: Decades of Service That Shaped PLDT

For PLDT customers, reliable service is built on more than technology and infrastructure. It is powered by people who know the business, the communities they serve, and the responsibility of keeping Filipinos connected. This is the spirit behind the PLDT Pamana Service Awards. By honoring employees who have devoted 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of service to the company, PLDT recognizes the expertise and institutional knowledge that ensure service quality and continuity.

Among this year’s awardees are three individuals whose journeys reflect the very heart of PLDT.

For 35-year service awardee Ruel Brual, who is currently the Zone Head for Tarlac and Nueva Ecija, the milestone is both deeply personal and profoundly meaningful. “I am very happy and fulfilled being in PLDT for 35 years,” he shared. From his early days as an Engineering Assistant in 1990 to leading major business zones across Luzon, Brual’s career evolved alongside PLDT’s own transformation. He credits the leaders who mentored him, the teams he led, and the responsibility of delivering connectivity to communities in Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, and Aurora. “I feel useful and proud providing the telecommunications requirements in my area and helping these provinces as a partner for growth and connectivity building,” he said, underscoring how service at PLDT extends beyond the organization to nation-building itself.

For 30-year service awardee Alan Abrina, who is currently the Repair Head for Business Delivery & Fulfill in the Visayas and Mindanao District, PLDT has been both a first job and a lifelong calling. “PLDT employment was indeed my first job, and it will eventually be my last – and that in itself is a blessing which I treasure,” he shared. His journey began in the field as a Cable Splicer Helper, climbing poles and working underground, learning discipline through service. Over time, his openness to learn every facet of the business propelled him from outside plant work to executive leadership roles across Mindanao. “Every challenge, every achievement, and every lesson along the way has shaped not only my career but also who I am as a person,” Abrina reflected. Today, he remains driven by one goal: to leave behind a legacy worthy of the next generation.

Reaching the rare milestone of four decades, 40-year service awardee Allan Reyes, who is a Senior Telecom Engineer assigned to PLDT’s Batangas International Cable Station Operation, describes his journey with quiet pride. “I’m very blessed and happy that I reached 40 years of my career. Para kasing bihira ang nakakaabot ng 40 years of service (It seems like it is quite rare for someone to reach 40 years of service),” he shared. Hired in 1985 as a Radio Technician, Reyes handled high-pressure, solo duties supporting critical communication systems, including military data circuits. Through dedication and love for his craft, he rose to become a Senior Telecom Engineer. “I love and enjoy my work,” he said simply – a sentiment that carried him through decades of change and innovation.

Together, their stories embody what the Pamana Service Awards truly represent: gratitude for the past, pride in the present, and hope for the future. These awardees remind us that PLDT’s greatest legacy is not only the networks it builds, but the people who carry Pusong PLDT – dedicating their lives to keeping the country connected and passing on this Pamana of service for generations to come.

This commitment to people is strengthened through *WE:CARE, PLDT’s employee value proposition of workplace experiences that foster connection, alignment, recognition, and empowerment. Shaped by the voices of people across the organization, *WE:CARE was created in response to the call to be heard, to be supported, and to feel a genuine sense of belonging. Under its Recognition pillar, the Pamana Service Awards stands as a powerful expression of this commitment, honoring long years of service while reaffirming that every contribution matters, and every individual has a place in PLDT’s continuing story.
