Young Prodigy Silver Cariño Debuts Solo Exhibit ‘SILVERLinings: The Emergence’ at Kapitolyo Art Space

Kapitolyo Art Space is proud to inaugurate its 2026 season with SILVERLinings: The Emergence, the debut solo painting exhibition of 14-year-old artist Silver Jacinto Cariño. Running from January 6 to 19.2026, this milestone showcase introduces a voung visionary whose creative skill and deep social conscience far exceed his years.

An 8th-grade student at Ateneo de Manila, Silver’s passion for creation was ignited in early childhood. He was only four years old when he began mindful drawing and painting, and today that journey from the bedroom floor culminates in his first solo professional gallery exhibition.

Since 2022, Silver has flourished as a protégé under the esteemed mentorship of Maestro Fernando Sena, widely regarded as the Godfather of Philippine Art Workshops. Specializing in acrylic and watercolor, Silver focuses on subjects drawn from personal inspirations that promote positivity while allowing him to continually hone his craft. His unwavering commitment to his Saturday lessons with Maestro Sena reflects a mature understanding that dedicated practice is integral to the process of mastery.

For Silver, the studio environment is essential to both his creative output and his well-being. He shares that being at Buenas Artes, Maestro Sena’s studio, serves as his weekly reset- a space conducive to calm and creativity that allows him to relax his mind and take a necessary break from the rigors of schoolwork and weekday responsibilities.

The young artist is driven by a profound ambition to champion Filipino creativity on a global scale. He views himself as a representation of what a young Filipino artist can achieve and hopes to serve as an instrument in showcasing the country’s immense talent to the world.

One of the most poignant inspirations in his collection stems from a near-death experience when he accidentally swallowed the cover of a correction tape. With his airway blocked and unable to call for his mother in the next room, Silver turned to deep prayer.

“Out of nowhere, I heard glorious sounds of trumpets in my head and slowly felt light in my body. At that very moment, even though I was already weak and exhausted, I was able to cough it out, and I knew I was saved.”

This miracle resulted in the stunning painting titled Miraculous Herald, depicting an angel with vibrant, colorful wings playing a trumpet.

Beyond the stories captured on his canvas, Silver’s art is a commitment to social purpose and a heartfelt expression of gratitude. He considers himself blessed to have the gift of art and hopes to be an inspiration to others.

Central to his painting journey is his deep appreciation for those who have guided him along the way. “I have my mentor, Maestro Sena, to thank for his invaluable wisdom and for allowing me to express myself without being too serious! He is always funny, sharing jokes and surprises during our lessons.”

Driven by both ambition and a dream to champion Filipino creativity on a global stage with purpose, this mission is best reflected in his commitment to the Kalma Art Foundation an organization that provides healing for abused children through art therapy. As a volunteer in their outreach programs, Silver has proudly named the foundation as the beneficiary of this exhibition. “I would like my art to have a deeper meaning, and right now, my heart is with these children,”he explains.

Silver’s journey has been supported by many, including his mother, Gwen, who was so inspired by his passion that she began painting alongside him. A well-rounded individual, Silver is also an active member of Ateneo’s Dulaang Sibol and the Filipino Volleyball Academy.

Through SILVERLinings: The Emergence, Silver Jacinto Cariño hopes to serve as an instrument of inspiration, showcasing the immense talent and heart of a young Filipino artist. As he opens this first solo chapter, Silver remains grateful for every day he can create and share his vision.
