This film tells the story of the trajectory of Perry’s career as gospel singer Katheryn Hudson until the present day as pop singer and global superstar Katy Perry, bearing testimony from Katy (real name Katheryn) about her childhood, talking about the Teenage Dream era, with scenes from backstage of her last world tour while trying to take time to resolve personal problems, including her divorce from English comedian Russell Brand. The interim scenes document her last world tour, the California Dreams Tour, and were recorded on November 23, 2011 at Staples Center, Los Angeles.
Several internationally acclaimed singers have made cameo appearances in the said film including Adele, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Jessie J, Kelly Clarkson and Britney Spears.

The Biopic concert documentary was already released in Australia,New Zealand, Canada, UK, Ireland and United States last July. This month, it was recently released Peru, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Columbia, Chile, Germany and Singapore. It will also be released in Malaysia, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates and Italy on September.
In the Philippines, the premiere of the Katy Perry: Part of Me will be on August 29, 2012 in theatres nationwide.
