Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has extended support to the University of the Visayas via the provision of connectivity devices with 6 months’ worth of load allocation which will be distributed to students who have been severely impacted by Super Typhoon Odette.

This initiative is part of Smart’s bigger program called “Smart Study Program” aiming to make distance learning possible for students while face-to-face classes are suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The donation of these devices from Smart is a truly valued gesture especially that our students who have been severely affected by Odette will be benefitting from this initiative,” says Dr. Ma. Crispy Velasco, Director of UV Student Affairs and Services Center.

“The donated devices will specifically help the students who were massively affected by the Super Typhoon. The academe is one of the most affected institutions during the pandemic and post-Odette. We wanted to let our long-time partners know, including the University of the Visayas, that we are with them amid these very difficult times,” says Nancy Nacua, Senior Manager of Smart Community Solutions and Business Development VisMin.

The formal turnover was attended by Dr. Velasco; Ms. Jovie Suson, Coordinator of UV Student Affairs Office; Viennesse Elare, Smart Community Solutions and Business Development Officer.

PLDT and Smart provide access to inclusive quality education in basic to tertiary levels, through Information and Communications Technology (ICT), content, pedagogy, and capacity building to ensure that there is #NoLearnerLeftBehind.
