Kyle Echarri explores a new sound that embodies a bolder chapter in his music journey in his new single “Cupid’s Aim,” a collaboration with producer Moophs and his first solo release under Tarsier Records.
A song nearly two years in the making, “Cupid’s Aim” is an R&B neo-soul track that talks about what one would do for the person he loves. Kyle and Moophs initially worked on the song at the height of the pandemic in 2020 but only finished it this year.
“Moophs and I have been trying to make a song together for a while now and he sent me this beat during the peak of the pandemic. This is a new sound I’ve never shown before,” Kyle said, citing Drake and Lucky Daye as his influences for the song.
Meanwhile, Moophs recalled the process of finishing the track with Kyle’s ingenuity. He said, “Kyle had everything but the last verse, which he wrote on the spot during a marathon day-long studio session. I was really happy with how the beat turned out.”
“Beyond his melodies he has so many little riffs and licks and harmonies—little details that add a ton of panache and glamor to the final product. He’s one of the most skilled technical singers I’ve recorded,” the Tarsier Records’ label head added.
Upon its release, “Cupid’s Aim” was included in Spotify’s weekly editorial playlist New Music Friday Philippines. The song signals Kyle’s switch to a more mature sound, following his “New Views” album released under Star Pop last year, all seven tracks of which he also wrote and composed.
Just last May, the Kapamilya artist also worked with Markus and Moophs for their collab “Hotel Room,” which currently has over 132,000 Spotify streams.
Apart from his music, Kyle is also busy in his acting career and will soon be seen on upcoming shows “Lyric and Beat” and “Beach Bros” on iWantTFC.
