Nikhil Anand’s journey to the Pageant World

Nine years ago, Nikhil Anand dreamed of having his own beauty contest. He was an engineering student- straight as an arrow with no background in pageantry. It was a different world from his and no one in his family is involved in the media or entertainment business. But he knew in his heart that he was meant to do it so he made a quick decision and never looked back.

Nine years later, Glamanand Entertainment Group, the company that he founded now owns several important pageants in India like Supermodel India, Miss International India, Miss Multinational, Miss Teen Diva, Miss Teen Universe India and Miss Teen International- where the Philippines is a member.

This year, Miss Teen International goes back on stage after a two-year hiatus because of the pandemic and Nikhil is grateful that Philippines is sending a representative to his pageant. In 2018, Simone Nadine Bornilla represented the Philippines while in 2019, it was Franchesca Beatriz Abalajon who raised the Philippine flag. This year, Cielo Abarro will represent the Philippines.

“I have such high respect for Filipinos especially when it comes to beauty pageant. Filipinos take beauty pageant seriously and they prepare really well.” Nikhil shared that the first winner of Miss Multinational (a brand that he made) was Sophia Senoron- from the Philippines.

“One of the reasons why I would love for the Philippines to host Miss Teen International is because I know that pageants in the Philippines are always grand and festive.” Nikhil was one of the judges during the Miss World Philippines 2018.

Nikhil says that although his background has nothing to do with beauty pageant, being an Engineer has helped him develop a skill to execute his projects smoothly– with precision and perfection. And for him, there is nothing more fulfilling than being part of an important journey such as a beauty pageant.

“The path that I have taken isn’t easy. It’s not a walk in the park. I had to deal with failures along the way but I stood my ground, I have always believed that beauty pageant has so much to offer to the world. And the positive transformations girls go through in the national pageants make me the happiest. Their growth and sisterhood are always a treat to watch. While at the international pageant, it is beautiful to watch the world come together and feel the love being shared with one another.”
