If you are looking for a way to relive your love for Philippine Music, look no further than Side A. Witness timeless music as the former members and new generation Side A perform a back-to-back concert together on the stage of Newport Performing Arts Theater at Newport World Resorts, with special guest Clara Benin, on September 24, 2022 at 8 PM.
For over 35 years, the band has been an icon in the country’s OPM scene as the ones behind hit ballad tracks “Forevermore,” “Hold on,” “Eva Marie,” “So Many Questions,” and “Di Pa Huli.” Now, they will take us back to when we first fell in love with OPM in their concert “Then and Now: Redux 360 Side A Experience.”
Side A was founded in 1985 and boasts an impressive lineup of musicians who have been with the group since its humble beginnings at the Hyatt-Calesa Bar. The original roster includes brothers Rodel Gonzalez (lead vocals) and Naldy Gonzalez (keyboards and vocals), Mar Dizon (drums), Pido Lalimarmo (guitars and vocals), Joey Benin (bass), and Kelly Badon (lead guitars). Since hitting stardom in the 1990s, the hitmakers bagged two Awit Awards and a triple platinum album.
Their legacy in the local scene continues as one of the most sought-after and innovative musical force in the industry. Today, the band is made up of newer musicians alongside founding member Naldy. Among the new generation members are Ned Esguerra (bass guitar), Yubs Esperat (lead vocals), and Lee Von Cailao (lead guitar).
Last year, the original members gathered in their virtual reunion concert. Following its success, the nostalgic performance will now grace a grander stage in Newport World Resorts. Catch the band perform their well-loved signature blend of pop and ballad on a live stage.
